Damn Computers

So this morning the missus comes into the bedroom and wakes me up saying that my computer won't start. It has been having some issues the last week or so, so totally expected it to die soon. Well... it did. Damn thing is only two years old... not happy. Not sure if the SCSI went or the video card, but it takes 10 days to find out so says the repair shop. Honestly... how completely stupid. I said to the guy... "10 days back log you have?" Yep... 20 system awaiting repair. Which I had to make a remark... you have only 20 systems in back log and that will take you up to 10 days. Wow... not very good with their servicing.... two systems a day, that is pathetic.

At the moment I am using my Linux server for my web stuff... though it has none of my normal programs upon it to use. Technology pisses me off at times...

what a pain! I just picked up Windows 7, so I had to redo all of my stuff. I am a computer geek, so crashes happen all to often it seems.

What's with the 2 a day?!? It's not like it is a hard diagnosis, you turn it on, test 4 components, then replace said component. Easy.

Yer I know.... I can't figure it out myself. I am pretty much a geek also mate... its something that takes up my time. That and games.... finalizing our renovations at the moment though. That has been my latest project for the last 16 months now. Nearly finished.

I did my technician course donkeys years ago when I was still doing my sparky trade, but I have no gear anymore as I got rid of it all when I joined the Army, as I wanted a complete job change. I actually think a bit more damage is done than I thought, in that the power cable was nearly out of the system, sparking on the terminals.... so I think I have taken out the power supply or a component.

Looking forward to windows 7. It went on sale here midnight last night... though since my computer is in the shop, no real rush. I am just going for the ultimate, considering it is only $20 more than the professional. Still use xp pro on our network here as vista was useless. Looking forward to upgrading immediately though to the new OS... thank goodness Microsoft have finally began using the public for beta testing in order to put our a more proficient end product.
