I'm hoping it's okay to put this in here...

Has anyone got a daylight alarm clock - the ones that simulate the rising sun and wake you up gently?

I'm having real trouble this year gauging what time it is when I wake up on a morning - I seem to think it's 7am when it's 1am and 1am when it's time to get up!

I was just wondering if one of these would help, but they are soooo expensive I thought that I'd ask for opinions before taking it any further.

Thank you

I have not got one, but have heard they are wonderful for those who struggle in the winter months.

Have a look on E-Bay, you may get one cheaper.

Oh I hadn't thought about Ebay, I'd been looking at Amazon and Argos - I will go and have a look! :)

Yeah I got the a Philips Wakeup light off of Amazon and it was friggin 100 bucks. The light is really bright once it gets to its full setting like a little mini sun. But for some reason I just kept on sleeping and it never woke me up and the whole room was bright as hell! haha But it did have some sounds too like birds and what not or radio.

I ended up just using my iphone still as an alarm clock but the wakeup light is in the living room now and makes a great adjustable lamp. I turn it on every morning when I come out here to read. I like mine even though its not used as an alarm clock anymore. But 100 dollars is a lot to pay for a damn table lamp. Dont know if this helped or not. :)

The ones with normal light are cheaper than the ones with actual daylight simulation bulbs (which I think you only need if you have seasonal affective disorder). I have the normal light type, and I like it. If I wake earlier, it helps me to orientate myself timewise by whether the light's still off or if it's starting to shine. It was about £20 (UK pounds).

I like it as a lamp, too. You can dim it to whatever you like.

It wakes me up most mornings but has a backup alarm just in case. I had one before where the backup alarm was horrible and you couldn't change it or set the light without it. The one I have now has a choice of sounds and adjustable volume.

The only problem is that if you unplug it, there's no battery to keep marking the time so you have to reset the time when you plug it in again. But it was cheap...

Not sure what country you're in, but I'm in the UK. Mine was a Prologue type from Clas Ohlson. Hope that's not promotion - I wouldn't benefit if you bought one!

Thank you both - it's good to hear from people who have them. Hashi I am in the UK too, so will try and find the one you mention. The one I looked at on Amazon was the Phillips one that Over9000 has - that's one heck of a lamp!!!! Which is why I didn't want to pay for one - or hint for one for Christmas... ;) until I'd heard what they were actually like.

Or - I could just wait a couple of months and the mornings will start to get lighter again
