As long as you have blood coursing through your body, as long as you have consious thought and as long as you are alive, there is help. There is always somebody, somewhere that cares about you. Count me as one. My heart hurts for every young man and woman coming back from the sandbox. You can feel their pain, see it in their eyes. I just want to go up and hug every damn one of them and tell them that I know, I understand and want to help.
William, don't do that again, promise me. There IS life with the beast. Sometimes it's damn little, but it's there. You've already proved your bravery in battle, prove that you can fight the beast and win.
Seek help from the VA, or the Vet Center, or even the broken down old Nam Vet four doors down. There are still good times to be had. Sometimes you have to reach out and pull them to you, but they're there. Yesterday was just such a day for me. I had about three hours of good old, foot stomping, yell and sing fun and it made me feel about ten years younger. I had to look for it. Work a little for it. And it put steel back in my resolve.
Get out of the bunker and look for those times, William, you'll find them, I promise you.
