I found having several options to cancel the noise lowers my SUDS Level allowing the security feel of having some control over the intensity of the external stimulus. C-PTSD (for me) can be triggered by lack of control which feeds into my fear implicit driver. So, you may find that a "good enough" set of solutions will defuse some of the spiraling after the initial reaction. A first step if you will.
Next, if it is in your home front ...sometimes everyone can have an agreement or may be on board with a quiet period for a short duration. Having specific go to's during this time for the wee ones (such as crayons, or whatever they are accustomed to) may assist in your immediate need set. *Rewards for little ones is strongly encouraged for when they try doubly hard to cooperate.:roflmao:
Public settings, perhaps excuse yourself (with social amenity) and use Mindfulness Breath Work for the quick center. As well I use a pressure point on my hand to ground my body until the breath work can take rythmn. A comfort piece of jewelry can substitute for the acupressure in one manner if that is not your thing. I use my cross at times.
But T session work (depending on your T ) may be excellent for establishing a positive trigger- if you will. A pattern that follows the sudden or overbearing noise to ease into that lull of some damage control armed with your choice of options. Best of wishes in your pursuit. ((((hugs))))
