I previously used to posts in the forums of psych central but wasn't getting much out of it. I stumbled across this website from searching for PTSD sites. I relate to the more emotionally disturbed individual than those with just ordinary codependency and anxiety. Like the title says, I had to seek counseling last February after having to deal with an older sister with Munchausen syndrome (faking illnesses/ exaggerating illnesses for attention), a sister who was always a bully to me growing up. I live two miles away. I had not seen my sister much in the last 34 years. But two years ago I moved to Oregon to be closer to my mother, while my sister was living in the area. I don't like being around her much, she's pretty manic, borderline type personality and in general difficult to be around with. Trouble is too, at times she can act really sweet. From day to day don't know which one of her will show up. But worse than that is a fear of how I will react the next time I have to deal with her in a bad mood. I have lots of trauma flashbacks from childhood and general uneasiness of facing the next day if I have to be around her. It is good to be on here, although I know for ptsd you need a lot more than online support, you need face to face and private therapy. In my community, I discovered last week that there is a NAMI support group for those dealing with PTSD that meets on Monday and looking forward to that. I am planning to move back to the Southwest where I came from next summer, in the hopes that will be a safer place. Meanwhile I have much support to seek. Thanks for reading.
