Hi Hope,
I have really enjoyed reading through this thread. Thank you, and everyone else for posting such encouraging and thought provoking items.
Here is one from me:
During the battles that life throws at us:
The Storm (an Allegory)
Oh Mighty Storm that roles down from the mountain heights,
Bringing with you a biting wind and stinging rain.
As I stand; you force your presence on me like a warrior in battle,
Hurling your weapons at me, trying to crush my spirit.
But I have suffered the storm before.
I have battled against you.
I have received wounds and my spirit has been rent.
And I have faced you more than once.
Now I turn my face to you and feel the strength that you possess.
The power of the wind as it attempts to break me,
The rain as it flails against my skin,
The cold as it penetrates to my bones.
With all my strength I scream at you...
'You cannot win, oh Mighty Storm!
For as you rage and as I stand facing you;
I know, yes I know, that I will prevail!'
And soon you will be gone from me.
The wind will calm and the sun will once again warm my skin.
My spirit will heal and I will rise again.
You, the Mighty Storm, will have disappeared;
But I remain...
Stronger for having done battle with you.
