Hi. I was trying to figure out the difference between dissociation and a regular daydream. Like, I used to have these really immersive daydreams where I would not even remember where I was and what was going on around me. I would come out of it and have to quickly catch myself up with what was going on (where I was and what was happening around me). Could that still be considered a daydream, or is that dissociation?

Daydreaming is a form of dissociation. It’s a mild form of dissociation that most people experience.

Different points on the same spectrum:)

shall i augment the confusion by adding the wonder of the diff between dissociation and a creative zone? creative zones result in human made marvels like, "middle earth" and world famous statues. focus, itself, is a form of dissociation. i am dissociating from the distractions which keep me from getting a job done.

the good news is that all that added confusion fits under @Sideways summary of, "different points on the same spectrum." in my own case, the most important detail is how easily i can come back to the here and now. if i can't return at will, it's time for a therapy break.
