Ok, so I'm probably like a lot of people on here. When my meds wear off and I'm beginning to wake (ah the relief of symptomless sleep), my head immediately feels like it's exploding, stinging, on fire. I'm immediately irritable beyond belief, generally horrified to have to face yet another day like this, and on top of that, very fogging sometimes cause of the meds.

So, my horse got injured about a month ago. I got some pharma grade DMSO for his recovery. I have fibromyalgia, so I thought, 'what the heck, I'll try it on me at some point.'

Well, yesterday and the day before were really active, and as I woke I felt the familiar, "oh, this is another day shot to fibro too"

Went in the kitchen about an two hours ago and I put the dmso behind my neck, on my shoulders, thighs, hips and knees. Immediate relief from the achiness. Immediate joint relief. Feel like I might be able to actually have a day.

But what I'm noticing most of all is that the stinging brain, the irritability.....that has lessen a lot too! I don't feel like I could immediately rip my cats head off for simply meowing good morning in her boisterous way.

Now I'm reading its been used in all kinds of mental disorders, even schizophrenics have been able to hold jobs!

I'll keep everyone posted, but I'm just SOOOO HAPPY to have some mental relief this morning........after 35 years of this crap!

Are you taking your horses medication? I am confused. If so I would talk to an actual doctor-that is dangerous. If not, sorry for the confusion :(.

DMSO has been studied for decades on humans, but never approved by the FDA due to the inability to produce 'double-blind' studies. When topically applied, it passes into the blood immediately and even crosses the blood brain barrier. Due to it's polar properties, you have to be very careful applying, as anything will go with it, such as lotions, perfumes, etc. So you have to make sure you are very clean. I apply it with a paper towel, it is a paper product actually. When applied, the person immediately gets a strong garlicky taste in the mouth. Due to this property, you can't do 'double blind' studies, because the people receiving the placebo would know that because they don't get the garlicky taste. Therefore, due to the dangers of applying and the lack of these studies, the FDA ruled it out for any human use except for intestinal cystitis (a bladder condition).

It has been used for horses for 50 years, even directly injected into the brains of those with head traumas, many times saving their lives. It brings down inflammation immediately and was even injected into some paralyzed people and many regained the use of their limbs. There has been a plethora of research on it and many people still use it, despite it not being approved for human use with the exception of the bladder condition.

So yes, I'm using my horse's topical medication. It is 99% pure and I've even met vets who use it on their aches and sprains. Many swear by it.

ps.......it is actually a 'natural' ingredient, it is a by product of paper pulping. It is controversial and I'm not recommending anyone dive in....I personally feel ok with it.

Dr. Stanley Jacob did most of the research on it beginning in the 60s. He devoted his life to it.

Update: still feeling pretty calm and peaceful. None of the 'angst' that I struggle with all day..........hum.

This is from a book published I 2013: The DMSO Handbook for Doctors

Chapter 26

Sorry, don't know if I can post a link. But do a search on the book name and mental illness. It will be the first on to come up.

I did a quick Google on DMSO, because this article reminded me of it, and it's use for pain management. It's available without prescription for livestock use...

I won't link it because it's to commercial businesses, something we aren't supposed to do here.

The book I referenced has a section that explains how successful it's been for mental illness. They've injected it intravenously.

I won't do that, but I'll certainly dab a bit behind my neck when I'm feeling the tension before I take a klonopin. I'll keep ya all posted...

Is it an aqueous solution? Do you know what percent DMSO? Just cautious because I've burned myself with pure DMSO in the lab before when someone had spilled some on a bench.
