I follow world news very intentionally, and everyday. I feel it my responsibility.... I can't turn my back on the pain and suffering of others, just so I don't want to feel uncomfortable. And besides my Countrymen have been at war and are dying all over the world for the past 12 years. And without careful observance and verification, you don't know what to believe... Since the internet has NO editing for truth or BS. and reporters are bias enough to think they have the power and authority to decide on what I should know and what I shouldn't.

Pro. 18:17 In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until someone comes forward and cross-examines.

Everybody has their opinions, and I want to hear them all... Then it is MY personal responsibility to decide what I chose to allow to influence my choices, based on gathering ALL information. It's called Scientific Method to find the truth... despite how I feel about it !

I watch the news whenever I can. Some of it is triggering for me but I feel it is important to know what is happening in the world.

Having friends and family all over the world it is important to know what is going on.

I am a sensitive soul and can easily absorb others pain and suffering so when I watch the news I make sure I distance myself from the horrors and make myself 'not' carry it. I am not Atlas and I cannot carry the world on my shoulders. It has taken me a long time to learn this.

Yes! Sometimes. I like watching the news because I like knowing about people and what is going on in the world, good or bad. ...but sometimes I cannot. I can get really grieved by it and also get triggered from some things, that can send me into a nightmare.

I can't watch the news at all. I find everyone on the news to be stupid and uncaring, and I get horribly angry and depressed whenever I'm in a situation that I have to watch or listen to the news. I get most of my news information from the internet, because somehow reading it online makes it seem less real and makes me feel less bad. The only time I ever "watch" the news is when my mother makes me have some sort of "family time" and my dad watches FOX news constantly. I won't go into my political views because I don't like talking politics, but I will say that even though some of my beliefs line up with some of the stuff on that channel, for the most part, my beliefs don't line up with anything in any news source. That's what I like about the internet. It enables me to get facts on what actually happened rather than some spin on whatever happened. Ugh, just typing this is stressing me out.

So no, I don't watch the news willingly.

I'm watching the news everyday. I need to be informed for my job. But that's not the only reason.

Until I was 19, I wasn't interested in the world around me. When 9/11 happened, I was so far away from reality because of the mobbing situation in school, I just noticed it weeks later. I locked myself up and didn't let any information get through.

Nowadays, I'm really interested in what happens. It influences my daily work and my point of view concerning everything. I like to discuss the current events with a good friend.

I also have a morbid fascination when it comes to the dark sides of human beings which is another reason why I always read the news.

But I also got to know about good things via the news. I would never have heard of Postcrossing without the daily news.

I was on Fox News twice. Once my doc asked that I do a piece on Restless Legs. They screwed it all up. The next time - last week = they were looking for my ex-husband, and they screwed up every thing I said again. All I said was that he was my EX-husband, I didn't know where he was, and get off my property. They made up a whole bunch of things that I said. This is why I don't really watch the news.

One news clip I love is The Apparently Kid. This kid is a kick! If you search it on YouTube, watch the first one at the fair, and then the first and second part of the Ellen show. They are the best.

I have never been a big news watcher but just recently I have started using parental controls on myself to block out all violent, sexual, and news-related content as I now find it too disturbing to handle. Awhile ago, I had come across a news story about a man who killed his children when I was searching for something totally unrelated and it deeply impacted me. I couldn't sleep for two days. I couldn't stop looking out the windows. I felt really afraid and emotional. This wasn't the first time a news story left me really shaken and on edge and I find if I come across something like that I am unable to peel myself away and start obsessively going over it and looking for related stories. So I have decided for the sake of my well-being, I just need to block it out. Ultimately, there's no benefit to the news. It doesn't tell me anything I really need to know or benefit my life. It just brings violence into my life that reactivates old traumatic memories and gives me more to worry about.

I avoid WATCHING the news.

Too much hype, too much slant. And, nothing I can do about any of it!

I stay up to date by getting my news online. I just get annoyed at the sites that allow comments below their articles. Want proof that America is full of idiots? Read those ignorant, hate filled comments! Its so sad....

@DharmaGirl,

Maybe it was a FoxNews function? They put a spin on everything that is a bit more out there than a lot of other news sources out there.
