Are we "stuck w/ PSTD once we have it...? What Im trying to say, is it always going to be there, just how we manage it's symptons gets better, or is there truly a day where I can say "pstd-free"? Labelled for life?

Depends ;)

Some symptoms may "go away" as therapy progresses. So if your case of ptsd involves only those symptoms which may "go away" your case of ptsd may go away as therapy progresses. On the other hand, if your case of ptst involves damage and changes in physical systems in your brain, then therapy involves learning to understand those changes and manage the symptoms generated by those changes until science developes the ability to undue those kind of changes.

Thanks for posting this great question. My husband was in Vietnam and never got any help. He has sought a bit of therapy the last few years. He sometimes doesn't think he has it because of his annoyance with the VA. However, he does have it.

We live in a town with alot of military people. When he comes accross someone with PTSD he can read it instantly. He always tells them to get treatment early. I don't know if that helps the recuperation. However, there must be a difference between getting help soon and waiting for 40 plus years.

I appreciate he tries to help others even if he isn't willing to get help himself.
