I am at such a loss.

Honestly------I rather see the world economy go into the toilet as opposed to nuclear war breaking out.

But then again, I guess I'm crazy for valuing human life over $$$.

And yes, I am pro-choice. I hate to finagle the convo this way-------but isn't it a bit odd that the pro-life party is essentially advocating for the deaths of millions of innocent people? Oh, right; I forgot. They only care about the lives of the unborn.

Hillary, and yeah, I'm saying Hillary, cause I think she's our best chance this election season ( and I think she will make a very good president; will we all get what we want? Hell no, but she will be better than the alternatives and we will be closer to what we want if she's president), called Trump out tonight for the liar and cretin that he is.. I know he hates woman who are not submissive to him, so unfortunately it will likely be much like a stupid circus sideshow in terms of how he will deal with her.

I've been for Hillary ever since Bill was president. I know Bill was a very slick politician - which he is why he infuriated Republicans- yeah, he was damn good, but I've always thought Hillary had very much as much integrity in terms of her feelings toward public service. Yeah, she is not the most likable or charismatic of politicians, but I really believe she cares about us and she is totally smart and tough about how to get things for veterans and us and the most vulnerable among us. Way more important than being charismatic. That's what we all need, not just us PTSDers, but the country at large.

Just because Hillary Clinton is ignoring her Wal-Mart ties, that doesn't mean the rest of us should.

huffingtonpost.com/zp-heller/wal-mart-for-president_b_96160.html

New footage from the Link Removed confirms what Hillary Clinton has conveniently omitted from her website and campaign speeches: she was on Wal-Mart’s Board of Directors for six years, from 1986-1992.

It was during those six years that Clinton served with the notoriously anti-union Rose Law firm in Little Rock, defending Wal-Mart against workers who tried to unionize. It was also during those six years that Clinton served with fellow board member John Tate, whose favorite saying was: “Labor unions are nothing but blood-sucking parasites living off the productive labor of people who work for a living.”

Buy American was a horrendous lie. Not only did Wal-Mart continue to get clothes from Asian sweatshops, but they also became the nation’s biggest importer of Chinese goods, forcing U.S. manufacturers out of business. Oh wait, maybe Buy American referred to clothing produced in New York’s Chinatown, where in 1991 (during Clinton’s Wal-Mart tenure), labor inspectors found 16- and 17-year-old illegal Chinese immigrants working without pay.

Now that this video is out, there’s no way Clinton can deny being on Wal-Mart’s payroll (the company gave her around $15,000 a year, $100,000 in Wal-Mart stock, and its lobbyists contributed tens of thousands to her presidential campaign). There’s no way a champion of women’s rights can deny being linked to a company that continues to defend itself against one major discriminatory suit after another. And there’s no way a presidential candidate who is backed by a slew of unions can deny connections to anti-union fanatics like John “Blood-Sucking Parasites” Tate and a company that pays its employees salaries below the poverty line.

Eh, you guys, I didn't know this about Hillary. I am thoroughly disappointed in her for this crap.

But we have to be pragmatic and practical -- what other choice do we have? We HAVE to be pragmatic. We are talking about voting for the leader of not only the US, but by default much of the free world. Do we want Trump (a latter day Hitler type--except that I don't think he is even as smart as Hitler was, not that Hitler was a genius?) or someone who is maybe less of a person than Obama? For me, it's no question.

And, make no mistake, if anyone is thinking of throwing away their vote on a third party candidate, that is exactly what you'd be doing -- throwing away your vote, which might very well lead to your worst nightmare being elected president (i.e., Trump). Sorry, but that's way the numbers always work. Don't take my word for it, just google "third party candidates" and "election results" in the U.S.

Nobody is perfect.

Hillary has made a few snafus along the way.

But please don't use those minor missteps as a reason to vote for the next Hitler.

We are a two party system. The electoral college system is predictable save a few states, mainly in the rust belt + Florida. I am in a state that hasn't gone red in quite a long time. My vote essentially doesn't matter cuz my state is going blue and it will be called "blue" with like 3% of precincts reporting. The libertarians will throw in a minor kink, but my guess again is that this will have an effect only in those few toss up states.

Glad Bernie is on Hillarys short list.

Our little local anti Trump coalition here - we were threatened today. We are really super private, don't accept outside funds, everyone signs a NDA about who is involved, and everyone signs an agreement to non-violence in our words and actions. We are like the most mellow of neverTrump groups - a network to stay connected through whatever comes. The threat was mostly creepy and weird and immediately reported to authorities. No real reason to be worried for our safety anytime soon.

But still.

The threats were astonishing and came right after someone else from a super PAC contacted our general email box and offered to pay to fly some of us to the convention to have us be distrupting protesters on the convention floor. This was quickly declined for so many reasons, not the least of which is that we refuse to be bought and sold by anyone, and we don't do violent protesting. Not even an option.

Weird amount of crap in one day.

And if this is what is happening to our little almost completely powerless group... geez...

We've got 5 more months until the general. The Trumpsters that contacted us were so angry... it was astonishing. I'm so super proud of the crew of people who handle the email account and who handle responses. They remained calm and professional, even in the face of extreme hatred.

It's also heartbreaking. We have never been unkind towards Trump supporters by they were vile towards us. I'm glad I'm not on the front lines dealing with this stuff myself but just keep those who are connected to each other.

We need each other to get through this.

<dislike> that you have been threatened
<dislike> that you were invited to be disruptive as well

<multi like> that you have organised on the basis of confidentiality and non violence
<multi like> that you are staying strong and holding to your principles, rather than being tempted and trolled into participating in the shit

I commented a couple of weeks back about the life expectancy in the united state declining slightly for the first time since records began (and likely for the first time since the war between the states) - due to increased alcohol and drug related and suicide

indicating that many people had nothing left to lose

people who don't think they have anything to lose can be dangerous

I've linked this before, it's a series of blog posts by an economist who grew up in Serbia - it is his take on how a bunch of scum bag losers and scummy politicians can persuade the main productive part of a population that they have to get involved in a conflict
http://predragrajsic.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/the-mechanism-of-war-introduction.html

please read the posts (he also has it up as a single piece on "the daily anarchist" if that is more convenient) and if they are of interest, please pass them on

Ideas come before actions
In terms of liberty and reason; reason was lost in the 16th century protestant reformations (to Luther and Calvin - all our knowledge was from mysterious divine revelation, there was no such thing as Natural Law and reason was only duplicitous sophistic quibbling)
yet reason returned in the 17th and 18th century enlightenment

The mercantilism and absolutism of Louis XIV in France and James I in England (which had been fuelled by the rejection of Natural Law as a basis for criticizing the actions of monarchs) was overcome by Laissez-Faire classical liberalism (unfortunately that has now been lost again to absolutist neo liberalism and the various forms of socialism, including fascism)

Ideas spread and people act on them

even if we lose at this and trump gets in, he cannot stamp out the ideas which will lead people to resist and reject all that he stands for.

Just as an example of how terrifying Ideas are to dictators, Mises' home library and his papers were taken from Vienna by the Nazis, and stored in a secure secret archive in Berlin. They were moved out before the fall of Berlin, but still fell into the hands of the Soviet forces, and were taken to a secure secret archive in Moscow, where only specially authorized researchers were allowed access for study.

If we can explain the process of getting people to go along with fools like Milosovic and Trump, then they are better able to resist.

A little homily
one of the former national socialists befriended by Milton Meyer (Meyer; they thought they were free) had been an engineer. A form came around for everyone to sign, swearing their allegiance to Hitler and the party. If they didn't sign, they would forfeit their employment.

The engineer took his own signing as the moment that Germany fell to the national socialists.

If he had had the courage to not sign, others would have found that courage too

There were not enough national socialist thugs to have enforced compliance on everyone, and that demonstration of rejection would have left Hitler knowing that he couldn't take the German people's compliance for granted, he would have known that he had no power.

When politicians offer a choice (eg either Hitlery or Trump) it is usually a false dichotomy, there are usually more choices there, if we can spot them.
