<dislike> that you have been threatened
<dislike> that you were invited to be disruptive as well
<multi like> that you have organised on the basis of confidentiality and non violence
<multi like> that you are staying strong and holding to your principles, rather than being tempted and trolled into participating in the shit
I commented a couple of weeks back about the life expectancy in the united state declining slightly for the first time since records began (and likely for the first time since the war between the states) - due to increased alcohol and drug related and suicide
indicating that many people had nothing left to lose
people who don't think they have anything to lose can be dangerous
I've linked this before, it's a series of blog posts by an economist who grew up in Serbia - it is his take on how a bunch of scum bag losers and scummy politicians can persuade the main productive part of a population that they have to get involved in a conflict

please read the posts (he also has it up as a single piece on "the daily anarchist" if that is more convenient) and if they are of interest, please pass them on
Ideas come before actions
In terms of liberty and reason; reason was lost in the 16th century protestant reformations (to Luther and Calvin - all our knowledge was from mysterious divine revelation, there was no such thing as Natural Law and reason was only duplicitous sophistic quibbling)
yet reason returned in the 17th and 18th century enlightenment
The mercantilism and absolutism of Louis XIV in France and James I in England (which had been fuelled by the rejection of Natural Law as a basis for criticizing the actions of monarchs) was overcome by Laissez-Faire classical liberalism (unfortunately that has now been lost again to absolutist neo liberalism and the various forms of socialism, including fascism)
Ideas spread and people act on them
even if we lose at this and trump gets in, he cannot stamp out the ideas which will lead people to resist and reject all that he stands for.
Just as an example of how terrifying Ideas are to dictators, Mises' home library and his papers were taken from Vienna by the Nazis, and stored in a secure secret archive in Berlin. They were moved out before the fall of Berlin, but still fell into the hands of the Soviet forces, and were taken to a secure secret archive in Moscow, where only specially authorized researchers were allowed access for study.
If we can explain the process of getting people to go along with fools like Milosovic and Trump, then they are better able to resist.
A little homily
one of the former national socialists befriended by Milton Meyer (Meyer; they thought they were free) had been an engineer. A form came around for everyone to sign, swearing their allegiance to Hitler and the party. If they didn't sign, they would forfeit their employment.
The engineer took his own signing as the moment that Germany fell to the national socialists.
If he had had the courage to not sign, others would have found that courage too
There were not enough national socialist thugs to have enforced compliance on everyone, and that demonstration of rejection would have left Hitler knowing that he couldn't take the German people's compliance for granted, he would have known that he had no power.
When politicians offer a choice (eg either Hitlery or Trump) it is usually a false dichotomy, there are usually more choices there, if we can spot them.
