News Donald Trump's Popularity To Date

I mentioned capital factors.

after 1492, something very interesting began to happen in Spain, and to ripple out around the rest of Europe.

Money prices for goods and services began to rise.

assuming a constant weight of precious metal, the price of goods usually goes down over time as improving technology and knowledge allows people to find better ways to do things and to become more and more productive

I said a constant weigh of precious metal, rather than the face value of the money because kings and governments have always tried to debase the currency, calling in the old coins and exchanging them one for one for new coins that contain less precious metal. the king then got to spend the precious metal that he had kept back.

Due to the Spanish conquests in the New World, the ammount of specie (precious metal coins) circulating in Europe, approximately doubled.

The new money caused economic distortions along the routes that it entered the European economy (these are called "Cantillon Effects" after the Irish French banker who described them after his experience with the paper money Mississippi Bubble in France).

There was massive development around the southern Spanish ports where the gold was landed - at the expense of development in other parts of spain (look at the current development around the areas where paper money enters the US economy - Wall Street, DC and Silicon Valley!)

The new money drew in imports, especially for luxury goods - rather than local production (sound familiar?)

Once the ship loads of new money stopped arriving, the oppulance in Spain was revealed to be un-sustainable

Agriculture and local industry had been run down, in favour of luxury developments in southern spain, paid for by the new money.

Ordinary Spaniards were left far poorer than they would have been - and many had developed a sense of entitlement rather than of enterprise. Arguably that attitude and those distortions still afflict Spain to the present day.

Since LBJ stopped redemption of paper dollars into gold in around 1968, and Tricky Dicky completely reneged on the Bretton Woods agreement in around 1971 and removed the link between the dollar and gold

the whole world has been on an entirely paper money (this is the ultimate debasement of money).

to give some idea of how much the American establishment has robbed the world through money printing. One dollar was officially 1/32 of an ounce of gold in 1971

One dollar will currently buy you around 1/1300 of an ounce of gold.

That money printing has worked as an invisible tax on everyone - transferring resources to the establishment and to their cronies

It's a flow of resources away from productive activities and towards the kleptocracy (politicians, bureaucrats, Wall Street (banksters and hedge funds).

The effects of this on standards of living were masked for a while by women increasingly entering paid work, and contributing to family incomes.

but now, the economy is so starved of capital resources that productive activities are having to be abandoned. businesses and industrial plant that should have been maintained and updated has had to be neglected. Despite needs for goods and services - there are not the resources left to employ everyone, and the purchacing power of those who are still employed is declining.

It's very easy for politicians to point to what the stolen money was spent on and to claim credit for great works - it is much more difficult to explain to people that the stolen money would have been used by its rightful owners to make and do things that we will now never see the results of (this is the Broken window fallacy)

The result is - people are now seeing a future that is worse than the past
Too many have too little to lose and as a result are open to demagogues - and what a crop of demagogues this election cycle has thrown up.

@Anarchy - I can't respond as well as I would like, but I appreciate your research and I'm reading along. I think you are touching on some very key societal patterns that have happened in other countries and are now happening in the US.

The video series you posted above is very well done. I have passed it on and it's sparked some great discussion. We have two solid economists in our group, one a former republican and one a former democrat - and they both said it made complex ideas accessible for people without a phd in economics.

Manufacturing and labor - the production of actual stuff - is dying, if not dead, in the US. Most now admit this played a huge role directly helping Trump win West Virginia. The data has been consistent that Trump is more popular in areas with more economic strife.

Our dollar is no longer backed by gold and other countries are quietly moving away from it. Our debt is going to come due - what happens when no other country loans us more money or demands we pay up?

Trump talks about this very situation and it's alarming. He expects to renegotiate it like a businessman and in a way that would work in business but would trigger global war for a whole country to do with it's debt.

It makes me wonder what will happen in Trump gets into the White House, fails as expected by many, the country/world suffers...

This Trump phenomena is also beginning to happen in more countries. The Philippines just elected a Trump like president and John Oliver did a piece on it:

News is annoying me. (What's new? Lol.)

Comparisons of Trump support vs Hillary support is nauseating. Yeah-----the "dem" side of things is still split between two. Not so on the other side. Yeah, it makes Trump look far more approved than he really is.

He sucks with
Women
Minorities
Young people
Etc

These comparisons annoy me for being so half truthed. Will stick with Rachel and Chris for now. They're the most tolerable lol.

Republicans are wusses. They are scared of a democrat in the White House more than they actually support Trump. They despite Clinton.

The politics of revenge won't get us anywhere good...
:(

And the media, they need to STOP with all the stories about Trump! It's what he wants!

When some were trying to raise the issue of Trump's tax returns, it appears Trump himself released the tape of him faking to be John Miller. He is the master at dominating every damn news cycle.

Trump is absolutely trolling Hitlery at the moment.

There were three British satirists, who used to make me laugh, Rory Bremner, John Bird and John Fortune.

The two Johns would hold a conversation, one of the conversations was trying to explain democracy to a martian.

Each party has its core voters, but neither party has sufficient core voters to win them an election, so they try to appeal to those people who haven't got strong party allegience, and to convince them

"Ah", says the martian, "I think I understand what you are trying to explain; the people who can't decide what they want, get to decide the election for everyone else"

I suspect that those "can't decides" are the real target for trump's publicity seeking.

That said, It is disturbing how many people, despite all of the evidence in front of them, appear to believe that the answers lie in electing narcs/psychopaths to make more and more decisions for them - and to force those decisions onto them.

check out the charts in these links - by all means read the texts, but the charts tell enough of the story to be able to understand it in a few minutes.
Incidentally, zero hedge is a news aggregator blog that focusses on finance economics and investment news, from a very irreverent view point. The comments section at the end of the posts is a hotbed of trolling

Trump isn't going to remove any of those over a million different restrictions on peaceful human interactions, that together serve to channel the proceeds of ordinary people's hard work, savings and imaginations,, directly into the pockets of the top cronies. I don't think we know who trumps big donors and cronies are yet, in order for us to know who (besides himself) he'll be serving Americans and their incomes and savings up to.

We do know who Hitlery will be paying back with special favours, for their very generous financial support. Trump's cronies will probably be different to Hitlery's, but I don't think they'll be any fewer in number, or any less keen to seek special privileges

Hitlery's big donors:

Biblical parting of the water. Trump rules the flow.

“If I win, we’re going to start opening up the water so you can have your farmers survive, so that your job market will get better,” Trump said at a Fresno rally. “We’re going to get it done and we’re going to get it done quick, don’t even think about it, that’s an easy one.”

Trump blamed the current drought on environmentalists, who “shove [the water] out to sea” to protect “a certain kind of three-inch fish.”

“We’re going to solve your water problem. You have a water problem that is so insane. It is so ridiculous where they’re taking the water and shoving it out to sea,” Trump said. “They don’t understand - nobody understands it,” he said, adding that “there is no drought.”

California has been in the grips of its worst drought in 1,200 years.

Seriously?!?!?!?!?

Damn. I hope WHEN Hillary wins that Elizabeth gets an awesome prominent position.

Trump is the biggest bully. What does this teach children? Don't bully UNLESS you want to be a businessman/leader of the free world and then it's A-O-K!

Bully any minority.
Bully women.
Bully the disabled.
Bully Muslims.
Bully Mexicans.

It's SICK how people fall for this crap! I really want to go up to a Trump supporter who also happens to be a parent and ask why they support a bully---------would they be ok with their kid getting bullied? Or are they all really that stupid as to think "it'll never happen to me or mine."

This is one of several articles sent to me by a TRUMP SUPPORTER.

This article is about how Trump is in support of nuclear war between Japan and North Korea because it would help the US economy.

I don't even have any more words. All words, gone. I am speechless.

Help the US economy?

Ok-------this sort of thing highlights the fact that there is no concern whatsoever about the loss of human life-----innocent human life! It all boils down to money. Millions of lives would be lost to fix our economy?!?

Are people really this stupid?

When was the last time there was a war of this proportion that the US didn't get involved in?

When was the last time that a war helped our economy?

WWII-------but that was a very VERY different time.

EPIC FACEPALM!!

I cant stand him as a person, let alone president. I am one of the undecided and will be voting anyone but trump.

He speaks like he gets his facts from old forwarded urban legend emails.

Maybe he should use Snopes, an internet myth debunking site.

I might have to have the kids or my husband with me to help me stay calm if there is a big crowd, but I know that even if he does win, I will have felt that I tried.

I see things going backwards, for everyone. As a woman who was forced to abort for medical reasons, I am concearned that might be one of his witch hunts. his opinions set us back to before all of the advances that have been made in laws to protect people of different races, sexes, religions, lifestyles, disabilities, etc.

How do we continue to advance as humans embracing acceptance of all the above with someone so full of hate in office?
