After the mass shootings in Paris by ISIS sympathizers, there didn't seem to be as big of a debate about more gun control or mental health care or how the government is screwing up keeping the French safe. I didn't see that from my very far away distance of it, even though everyone around me talked about it a lot. Debatea about what need to change were had, but the overall discussion seemed to be support for those who died and France as a country, and the overall blame was on the perpetrators.
In the US, the first thing people seem to do is blame someone, anyone, they can, in addition to blame of the perp.
Is this just my perception? This was close to home, and it seems like the closer to home it is, the quicker we are to blame people other than the perps.
I'm sure improvements need to be made, but do we need to jump to blaming those outside of the perp so quickly? Why does my country do that?
I think it's a symptom of how divided we are and Trump is running with it.
