I've never worked out the childlike faith that some people put in politicians to fix things.

There is probably a certain element in there of life long exposure to news media and people around them who keep repeating the same sort of faith.

and there's almost certainly a big element of ignorance of just what is possible and what is not possible, economically, bureaucratically, institutionally.

I agree. But I think in this case, it's pretty simple. As a former writer and editor for almost 20 years, I've unfortunately caught a couple of our writers plagiarizing and had to confront them with the evidence. They were not hired again. It's not fun. But Trump can and should hold the plagiarizer accountable, publicly admit the error and apologize to his wife. And then make sure she has real professionals helping her with future speeches.

I was speaking with a lawyer on the train yesterday. He told me about why he was supporting Trump. He expressed that he really didn't believe Trump's promises, and neither do most Trump supporters. He showed me this article: Dead Link Removed

The thing is, Trumps advisors are as full of it as Trump. The debacle over the speech hints at this very problem. Trump is a terrible business person, organizer, and most of all, leader.

He is great at stirring anger and drama. That's about it.

But I have to say American politics always seem more interesting than politics in my own country. We only got one person who approximates Donald Trump, his name is Wilders, but the other politicians have a tendency of being rather shy and quiet (or maybe that´s because I don´t own a TV).

Have you guys seen the latest song about the RNC by Steven Colbert? It came online yesterday.

I doubt Trump sees plagiarism as a problem. This is something my T has gone to some length to explain because it applies to people in my life. There is a type of person, somewhere on the narcissist/psychopath spectrum who truly believes that it's ok to say anything they want. All that matters is that they like the way it sounds. In Trump's version of reality, literally nothing but his opinion matters. This is, to me, the scariest thing about him. It might also be the hardest to wrap your mind around.
