Heh.. the KKK... um you're talking about Democrats (historically) as recently as Senator Byrd. Is Trump a Manchurian candidate... did he infiltrate my party with populist rhetoric, maybe so. I consider the man no true Republican and his donations seem to support this... though the "hail Mary" is his supposed change of heart which I believe is suspect. So we got two Democrats to vote for... pick your poison. One is a liar all the way back to her role in Watergate... the other has aligned with the establishment RNC. Quite a dilemma eh? It is surely one for me.

For the record I thought Obama was a Manchurian candidate as well, and well... that seems to have been pretty solid. I want to "transform America"... well he sure as heck did that.

I read the transcript of the Trump RNC speech. My goodness. It is the most authoritarian speech I've ever seen from a U.S. politician. I expected it to be very nationalistic, because that's how this pattern in history goes.. but somehow, I read it, and it's like... this is happening here? in the US?

It was super nationalistic and very fear based. It was dark. Holy moly it was so dark and ominous.

"I alone can fix it" - this alone shows the man some have nicknamed as "Cheeto Jesus" really does have a messiah complex.

I hope Trump loses big time in Novemeber and the GOP implodes on itself quickly, without taking the nation with them, for selling its soul to someone like this.

A "minor" development in the speech: he wants to take 501c3 status off the books. It's on the name of religious freedom when churches already don't have to get 501c3 status. The non-profit sector would be gone. My tiny job as a non-profit development professional would be gone. It doesn't even make sense! What the what?! He doesn't even understand what he is talking about.

On a more serious note, the speech was heavy on "law and order." He made it clear he plans to instantly restore law and order on Jan 20, 2017. He didn't explain how he will do that, and I actually don't care how he will do it, because all paths for instant imposition of "law and order" on a nation end up in very bad places. Tremendously bad places. Belveeee me.

He said during the speech,
"We Will Make America Proud Again. We Will Make America Safe Again. And We Will Make America Great Again."

Wait, "make America proud again?" America isn't proud enough? Honest genuine question. Are people walking around thinking America needs to be meow proud? "Cheeto Jesus" doesn't need to make America like HIM, or meet his standards of proudness, do we? America has patriotism in spades. Being patriotic isn't bad, but proud? That's a bit different and not good when it's coming from someone like Trump.

Or does anyone disagree? Are we really an all too humble country? Honest question.

Trump pulled on emotion, heavily, in a populist fashion, like all sucessful dictators do. Because it tends to work on a scared population. He told people what they wanted to hear, that's what the 501c3 status bullshit was about.

I saw a clip and he stood with the same body language as Mussolini, whom he praises.

We are repeating early 1930's Germany and what happens in other nations before dictators rise. One day people will refer to the 2010's as a decade to not repeat.

Bernie Sanders asked the question, "Is he running for dictator?"

Yes Bernie, he is running for dictator. That's exactly it!

And too many think it is a good idea.

But "#exGOP" is now trending in GOP circles and #neverTrumpers are fired up! Even a former GOP senator and so many others are leaving the party. Yes! Come join those who don't want to live under dictators!

I'm genuinely spooked and a bit angry. I'm not gonna hate Trump or Trumpeters, but I am going to continue to stand against Trumpism, and stand for kindness and love, in every way I can muster myself to do. I'm gonna try and not stop trying.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could show me where he says HOW he's going to do ANYTHING. (Just sayin') It seems like I heard him say he's going to do a bunch of stuff like "rebuild the military", deal with the student loan debt problem, and some other things that will cost money, while instituting the biggest tax cut in the history of the country. I believe I've heard that before and it didn't work then either...

I am an Independent and in my state I am able to vote for anyone running as a candidate at least I was the last election anyway.

I am sorry that Ted Cruz did not make it and I am confused as to why not?

I shot my mouth off in this thread about Trump supporters and I apologize for that. I really need to do some research and learn more about who Trump really is.

This is the scariest election to me. I appreciate everyone Dem or Repub that does the research to inform with facts.

I think that this is going to be the ugliest election cycle ever.

All I can think to add to that is that I think Bernie Sanders made a good point about "running for dictator" and, if Trump gets elected, I'm afraid we'll get the chance to see, first hand, just how good a job the founders did when they wrote the Constitution.
