I’ll go first, on Friday night I forgot how to chop an onion. Something I’ve done a thousand times probably. Literally ended up just hacking randomly at the damn thing!

My stress cup was overflowing, that’s my excuse!

Also, bonus point for putting the milk in the cupboard rather than the fridge; doh!

I forget people's names. Not random people, I mean people I've worked with five, six years plus, those sorts of people. It's so much fun hanving a conversation with someone and finding yourself at this point where you're trying to describe someone you both know well but you haven't a clue what they're called. I usually miraculously get distracted at that point.

Also, I once forgot how to spell the word 'the'. Genuinely.

went through seven steps to remove a tool from a machine I was using, without once remembering the other plans I had for the tool. Then I went through the same steps in reverse order to get the next tool ready, and wham! I realize the cart is ready before the horse so seven steps back off and seven steps back to the original tool. Done correctly I could have been inside watching I dream of Genie but no, still at it for another hour extra, minimum. What was I thinking about? Just another in a series of long attempts to figure out what went wrong 30-40-50 years ago.

Used to do desktop and server support for the company I worked for. Now? as soon as I see a list of instructions that goes part 2, I have to make a plan because well - logical thought? Doesn't happen sometimes......

On the good side - I haven't poured OJ in my hash browns for a few weeks....

About 10-15 years ago I forgot my PIN for debit card. Blah blah.

I have been *showing signs/suffering from Cptsd last 5 years or so.(43 yr old) I have been seeking treatment for last 1.5 years. Only in last 6 months have I realized/admitted how dissociative I can be.

I had this PIN for almost 10 years. I even incorporated into random passwords. I had checked out all my stuff at store and it asked for PIN. I immediately told cashier I needed to take everything back. I had forgot my PIN and I know I will never remember again. She smiled and asked me to try. I somehow knew TRYING would not work. I had to change all my passwords and PINS.
I told friends and family how wierd this was. Not because I had forgotten but because of how sure I was it was gone from my head forever.

I think I wanted them to remind me of other things I had just plain forgot. I wanted reassurance that when things in my brain are forgotten they leave forever. However I just found reassurance after reassurance I had a perfectly good to great memory.

I had no clue then that I was trying to admit to others and myself how severely I can dissociate. If only I could remember what I forgot I could have got through to someone. : )

oh god yes! Between the fibro and the ptsd I lose everything that isn't nailed down!
And by the time I find it I can't remember why I was looking for it

hubby is borderline ocd so he can usually see whatever it is I've lost long before I recognize it's lost because it's out of place LOL

I parked in front of the vet's office, did vet things, came out and couldn't find my vehicle in the parking lot... anywhere!!!! But I did notice that shiny, freshly washed vehicle that looked the same as mine but wasn't, that was parked right in front of the vet's office I was just in. After a good 15 minutes wandering around the parking lot with my mom, a pissed off cat in a crate, beeping my fob, and playing the PTSD for dummies version of Marco polo with my alarm..... f*ck me, I washed my vehicle, it's the one in front of the vet's office!!!!!

surprisingly, that is not the dumbest PTSD thing I've done... just the most public

I just went to fill my hot water bottle and make a cup of tea. Made the tea just fine this time. Took the hot water bottle through and was very confused as to why it wasn’t hot. Full, but not hot. I hadn’t actually dumped out the water from last night and refilled it. Doh!

hubby drove to take out place.
I got out of car to go get it - walked up and down the sidewalk trying to find the door
hubby got out of car and asked where I was going
because he had parked right in front of the door to the restaurant

In my own defense they had done some rearranging of their signs so it was harder to see
Which he didn't buy because I have been there a gazillion times! 🥹
