I've started taking Effexor again-75mg for first week and then to 150mg. I've had effexor before and it worked. I've recently tried cipralex but it did nothing for me. I'm having bad side effects from effexor that I don't remember having when I took it last time(12yrs ago). I'm jumpy, frigidity, drowsy, weak, anxiety, insomnia, yawning like ever 5 mins, super DIZZY. I hope this goes away soon. I had to call in sick to work again today and am worried about whaat people are saying about how much sick time I use. Which is a lot but it's cause I don't have the energy to even get ready for work in the morning.

Looking back I realize I've been fighting depression for 3-4 mths now and it's just getting worse. I am barely functioning. I just have NO ENERGY. And no matter how many 'breaks' I get I can't seem to get energy back. And my feeling so numb, robotic and lifeless to the mix and your in my shitty world. But I can't continue-I have a daughter that needs me to be ME and a boyfriend that's offering me a great life partnership. I want to be ME and get my energy for life back.

Anyone else on Effexor? Does it help with the energy?Does it kill your libido? Not that I have any right now I just want to 'want it' in the future. About how long does it take for most ppl to kick the dizziness and stuff?

Effexor does help with energy it takes awhile to kick in. I've been up for 24 hours and still jittery. Oh wait I have a coffee habit I have to get over as well as smokeing. I cleaned the house and spruced myself up today...yeah depression cured.

Remeron helps with sleep at night so you may want to ask your Pdoc. for that. Don't assume they can't be told what to do sometimes :-)

Have you tried cymbalta? It's working better than any anti-depressant I've tried (I've tried plenty!) it's fast acting too.

never tried cymbalta. Only ever took cipralex(which didn't work) and Effexor. I'll see how this goes for a while I guess but thanks for the suggestion.

I take 150mg of Effexor Xr twice a day. Yes, it kills your libido and you will feel like an almost functioning zombie on it. I hate it, but I do notice that if I miss a dose, it really messes me up and it's more work tring to get me back to "normal" than it would be if I just got weened off of it. I don't receommend it. Try asking for Pristiq. It's like Effexor but with less side effects.

I'm just confused as it did work for me a long time ago. I just don't remember all these side effects. ugh...I'm just so tired. I don't even know if I have the energy to go talk to the doc about all this again.

<- posterchild. 75mg for right now, but it started at 300, then 225, then 150, then 75, then 0, then insanity, then back to 75. It takes a while to adjust to the cycles. Brain zaps, twitches, insomnia, it totally triggers my fibromyalgia to flare up. I wish it didn't make me so damn happy because it hurts lmao. Just introduced prazosin at night in conjunction, seems pretty cool so far. I mean, it doesn't put me to sleep because effexor zaps and muscle rigidity is hard to calm at night. usually 6mg of melatonin can do it, and decaf green tea. Don't get me wrong. I'm no hippie, but it works. lol.
