Hi,
I got PTSD for many years now. The stronger symptoms I have with PTSD is I'm numb, I remember my past intellectually but not emotionlly. It's like my emotion of the past are trap in a bubble and I'm out of the bubble and I can't get in, I try to enter the bubble but it push me back. I also used to draw, write, read... but all my past interest are gone, I'm numb and nothing really interest me.

How can't I get back my emotion and interest? I read the EMDR is helpful therapy for PTSD, EMDR is moving your eyes from right to left, what is it exactly? If anyone can help with that I will really appreciate.
Sincerely Lili

I can only write my experience and I can not explain "how it works" or the science-y part of it but my therapist would ask me to pick a traumatic experience i.e. waking up stuck in a car. Then I was to name an emotion/thought/feeling I had with thst experience i.e. I am going to die here. My first therapist just used her pointer finger but a later one used a stick with gem on the end of it and they would go back and forth with it. They would ask me to follow it with me eyes, afterwards I would sometimes feel more calm about the experience and there would be less of an emotional charge afterward.

Hope that helps- I'm sure someone can post a better explanation of why it works
