This relates to pain that occurred almost two years ago, but I have been doing extensive research and have found that women who have been sexually assaulted experienced delayed hip/sciatic/back pain. I had this. Of course, no doctor or specialist at the time knew of the 4 year long trauma I underwent. My pain, thank God, is now gone. I am able to walk again as I was disabled for almost half a year. No medications, steroid injections could mollify the pain and specialists could find nothing abnormal in multiple MRI's...but it was very much there. I was basically bedridden. Has anyone else heard of things like this or experienced this themselves? I would be grateful for the replies!

Absolutly. I commonly have pain down there during a flashback that is horrid and only time makes it go away. I have chronic pain and am on a lot of pain medication and still had this.

Injections dont work anyway. I dont know what sort of pain meds that you tried but if it happens again have your doctor give you something stronger (though stay away from pure oxycodone & oxycotin...i say pure as percoset is tylonol & oxycodone mixed) and just take it as needed. I cant imagine it not working as it hits the paon receptors in your brain to tell your body you arent in pain when you are; when its long term continous.

Also come clean about your trauma to your drs if it happens again. You shouldnt be bedridden if you can be helped because they dont know.

Yoga is also very good for this stuff and remember, inactivety makes pain worse.

I had hip pain as a teenager, the period when some of my traumas happened. It was diagnosed as early onset arthritis. It became intermittent, then went away in my twenties.
After an EMDR session it came back so badly I could barely walk.
I currently have knee and ankle pain, but haven't seen a doctor as I assume it is all in my head.

How can you say that if you havent seen a Dr?

To the OP, you need to make sure to get all medical tests to rule out anything medical. You dont need to tell them details but they do need to know you were sexual abused/assulted as a child (if you were) as that not only can cause mental things, it can cause medical things. Before it can be advised as a mental symptom, you need to factor out anything medical.

Great if this has been done but just wanted to throw that out.
