I've not tried yoga and now I can't.( bad neck) The form of exercise I can do, is walking on a treadmill. I feel very good when I push it a little....

I’ve found that running sometimes makes me feel anxious afterwards or the next day. I love it but it activates my flight parts and sometimes I dissociate during a good run. Don’t know if that is what’s happpening with you but thought I’d share in case it helps.

Could be a medication side effect too.

I’ve always had it feel great after run but next day body feels more alert, perhaps I’ll go for gentler runs

Running used to be a trigger for me, any exercise, really. Your brain is processing stuff, trauma and whatever gunk is backed up for processing.
Try doing something else that elevates your heart rate, see if you have the same result. If not, then there’s something about running that may be connected to your trauma. Figuring out what that is may be helpful. The other thing to try is intervals. It requires more mindfulness to speed up and slow down. It might help stop the hyper vigilance.
It’s a sucky thing when exercise gets affected. Sorry you’re going through this.

Swimming is my way of controlling my breathing and heart rate and getting in some much needed exercise without wrecking my joints. I started off gently with the main aim that I enjoy it. If my heart starts popping out of my chest then I ease off and float around for a while or slow right down.

For me running is out of the question bc I've got too many bad bones and joints now.

Tai Chi is good for being mindful, learning to make the less dominant side of your body do things and not stretch the Yoga routines too.
