Fibro Fibromyalgia and ptsd

Brat,

I did google ACE screening but didn't find anything that pertains to fibro, ptsd, or child abuse. I may be looking at the wrong type of screening, what I found had to do with either risk for drinking problems or genotypes for the HPV virus. Maybe I need to enter fibro as a key word or something. To answer your question; yes, I am a survivor of early child abuse.

Hi Everyone :),
I am so glad that this subject has come up! I haven't been here for some time... My c-ptsd has been quite active and I have had one episode of DID. I have found that when my c-ptsd is more active my fibro pain hurts less. Once I have gone through the c-ptsd episode which for me usually last two weeks,,,,,once I am "at ease" the body seems to feel the pain . They seem to feed off each other so to speak for me. thank you for opening this discussion..:)

They discuss autoimmune illness related to early childhood abuse. Not sure if cfid or fm are mentioned specifically in any studies

Brat,

I didn't notice Cfs or Fm mentioned in the study reports but I did find it interesting to note that some illnesses can be related back to early child abuse due to the neurobiological damage to brain structures and functioning that is caused. To find depression and alcoholism in the forefront was not a surprise for me, but I have yet to read all of the information. I will be signing up for the newsletter so I can keep track of new developments, especially because me ACE score is high (9). Thank you for providing the links.

My score was high too and I didnt even really think I had it so tough. When I was about 30, a bone scan showed some arthritis in addition to fibromyalgia. From the pain I am having-I am sure it getting much worse. My right side is terrible (ankle, knee, and hip) to the point that mornings and nights I can hardly go down stairs.

I am sorry to hear you suffer from arthritis in addition to fibromylagia as I do. I was also diagnosed with it at around age 30. I know it can be tough, I have trouble getting around on some days as well. Between the fibro, cfs, and arthritis, I hurt and ache a lot and the only thing they tell me to do is to exercise and take Tylenol. *(Doctors have not been much help when it comes to this. Fortunately, I did manage to get a medication specifically for the arthritis. When it came to the fibro all they wanted to do is send me to some patient education class which I was to pay for out of pocket. I told them I could educate myself. lol :D I think I should be educating them. hahahahaha

Probably so. I wonder what patient education class would consist of-acceptance, pacing self, etc Im sure. I am fortunate to have a great doc but theres just not much they can do. I also have herniated cervical discs with stenosis, and a mild a traumatic brain injury. Throw in menopause and you have a recipe for .....well I wont say it. lol

awwww (((brat)))

Bless your heart, that is a lot to handle. My niece had herniated discs with stenosis and just had a laminectomy to help correct it. She has a big scar from her tail bone to the small of her waist from it. I don't know about menopause, but I can imagine as my sister is going through that too. Geeesh! What a pain it is to have so many things going on. I wish you the best with it.

gentle healing hugs,
