Food And Triggers

A few years ago I decided to deal with my thyroid disease. I went to the local community college after reading a few books on nutrition. I took a few classes focused on nutrition and decided to only eat nonGMO/locally grown organic foods.

It's almost a chaotic mess with me if someone even suggest I do differently. My little brother - in good fun - spent the better half of our thanksgiving interactions giving me crap about it.

But he made good that was nonGMO/Organic locally grown.

On our way home I asked my honey if I obsessed over this. He said he noticed it as a trigger like the only thing I can control.

In thinking about it. I can't control my ill health only manage it. I can't control my bad back only manage the pain. I can't control my emotions. That's huge for me. I take mood stabilizers because I'm embarrassed by my outbursts and the stress it causes everyone so I control my food.

Does anyone else live like that? I mean control your food?

Hi!

I have had an eating disorder from very young and have only managed to beat it pretty recently after struggling to do so for so long. As I got to sub clinical levels of it I swapped over partially to what is now known as orthorexia nervosa. Its not an official diagnoses but is used to describe controlling food with the idea of health behind it and yet jeopardising ones health or constricting ones life.

Good for you for recognising this may be a problem!
