Some feedback on this course from a supporter's perspective, and a warning.Without going into huge details, this online course was a huge setback for my partner and the beginning of a downward spiral that ended up with his absence these last few weeks due to a trigger on top of the course triggers.
The Macquarie University course was referred to him by his employer.
Whilst telephone support was offered and given, the trouble with "online" is not enough opportunity to assess the relevance of CBT to the stage a person is at with their PTSD. My partner started this course with his ptsd relatively under control with motivation to improve further. 12 months of hard work for my partner and myself down the drain. Back to square one with EMDR and relationship seperation.
In discussing this with my partner as he struggled through the modules, the problem for him was that he had multiple traumas to deal with and could not relate to a lot of the examples. Consequently when following instructions for the graded exposure section, it all became exceptionally overwhelming. Please be wary of any online therapy unless supported by a counsellor or doctor you can see face to face to gain a full understanding of the process and to receive some sort of monitoring as to the progress (or lack of).
