I have a friendship with someone who was my "support worker" supporting me as a student at uni, who then became my NIA teacher (a physical therapy) which I still do with her. We have lunch often after class and I can genuinely say we are friends but still maintain a level of space that I wouldn't cross.
The fact that I trained in mental health myself, as a "peer support worker" means I get to create a level of equality with some other professionals who work in the field and share and give them useful info to aid them in their line of work, at times.
My long term psychologist invited me to her house last weekend for a meditation group and Buddhist presentation (yes she is a Buddhist) but I ended up not going, too much neighbor drama (Not fun).
