Just because we have only 2 dead, that doesnt make it less horrible. Not an act of terror just simply means we are killing our own. When will this stop?

ETA: I dont know why the link says 1 dead as the acticle says 2 dead. 14 yr old & 18 yr old.

Just sickening. I don't understand why this keeps happening. I really don't. I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the act of murder...

@lostforgottensoul, it would be interesting for me to understand, why you're posting several threads like this one. What exactly is your intent in posting these threads? What are your fears, when you learn of such incidents? And why are suicide attacks, bombings, shootings in other countries (no, I don't mean Nice) not even worth being mentioned by you? I'm really interested in understanding your motives, fears etc. And I'd like to read your answer(s) only please, @lostforgottensoul not someone else from this forum writing answers "on your behalf", or because they think they might know why you're posting...

I will explain, after your answer, why I'm asking you about this. If I would do that now, I do have concerns, that my questions would go kind of unanswered, or unnoticed. Thank you in advance.

@She Cat, I dont either. Its disturbing for sure! I honestly think the government needs to take aburpt action in some way to stop it; even if its a temporary one.

It feels like the goverment is just sitting back and watching or something.

@lostforgottensoul Honestly, I don't think that the government CAN do anything, The NRA really has pull, and our rights to carry guns. If there was a ban put on owning guns and people were forced to turn them in, then it would be just like proabition era, and guns would be bought illegally.

Other than really trying to tighten the process to purchase a gun, I don't think there is much hope. Guns really aren't the issue... PEOPLE are.

But yes, the whole thing is sickening. As are all the other stories in the news where there are bombings, killing, murder. I just wish it would stop! Unrealistic, but I can wish.....

I agree, Lost. One death or two deaths are too many. People in this country have got to get a grip. Mandatory therapy for all? Only half-joking. Before anyone freaks out, I'm talking about good compassionate therapy, not any kind of vile fascist kind of thing.

Also, Treehugger, some of us have started threads on violent tragedies in other countries as well. I don't know of any French members here, otherwise I would have started a campaign for those of us who felt able to post supportive messages on their profile pages. I did however, know of some German members, and if you would like to be part of that campaign to post them supportive messages, please pm me and I will send you all the names I know of.

Also, as far as I know, we have no members from Afghanistan or Iraq, though I would certainly start a campaign to support them if they were here. We do have a new member from Syria who has escaped recently and you might want to send her a supportive message?

Yeah @She Cat, I first thought like a tempoary forced no guns, then redo whom can legally have them but yeah, black market would be booming.

I think the licencing needs to be tightened up for sure and the government obviously knows about the deep web and other avenues but isnt doing anything about it. I mention the deep web as most dont realize its there and like 10 times bigger (or more) than the surface web and a lot of illegal acitivity is going on there. Maybe the goverment just doesnt talk about it but if they arent, i dont get why they dont shut most of this down and keep it shut. Like the Silk Road keeps coming back. Like find a way, seriously!

Last I saw there was no rule that if I post about shootings Id have to post out of country ones too. I am mentioning US shooting because IM IN THE US and we have been having A TON. This directly effects me and I dont watch world news.

I think maybe a lot of us can handle just so much. I mean, we are seeing horrible violent events all over the world at least once a week this summer. It's a lot for even healthy people, forget those of us with PTSD who can have an extremely hard time dealing with all this.

Personally, I am just as heartbroken about these violent tragedies in other countries as I am about the ones here in the U.S. That doesn't mean I feel capable of posting or writing about them. I am praying for everyone in the world, and as far as I'm concerned if God knows that, I've done all I can do sometimes. We all have our struggles and can't always be the people we want to be.
