As some of you may know, I've been dealing with severe levels of dissociation and possibly DID as well. Thanks to a certain member that has consistently told me that I should consider inpatient treatment and that my levels of dissociation are serious, I took a good look at how much I needed help and am going for inpatient treatment tomorrow, so I'll see what happens. To the member, you know who you are, so thanks! :) For those of you who have ever gotten inpatient treatment (as an adult), how was your experience? For DID/PTSD/Depression? Should I expect anything, do you think?

I haven't gone to inpatient for PTSD but was made to go a mental hospital a few times as a child. I don't think those are the same because of the age and time differences, but just be aware things are very different in there than they are out here.

Also remember that you're going to a safe place and that memories are just sensory experiences; they are in the past and not going to hurt you talking about them.

Today is my last day of a 3 week inpatient ptsd course. It's been brilliant - exhausting, but brilliant. A lot of the stuff I wasn't hearing for the first time, but learning stuff that actually helps, surrounded by people who all 'get it' has been really powerful for me.

If your course is anything like the one I'm coming out of, you're in for some damn hard work, but definitely definitely worthwhile.
