Going To United States Next Week, Anyone Want To Meet?

Hi, I'm off on a trip to the US next week. I will be in San Francisco from the 7th to the 11th, and Orlando from the 11th to the 19th. The San Fran leg is just for fun, and the Orlando leg is for a conference (I'm presenting at a Harry Potter conference).

Anyway, does anyone live in either of these places, or is passing through either of these places when I am there, and want to meet? It'd be great to meet up with some people.

I'd love to come meet you Jagged Angel but my over demanding husband (:rofl:) won't let me stop working so that we can go to the PTSD gathering. Plus I'd have a large number of very unhappy clients being the end of the Financial Year. :wall:

Fisheman's warf, the Embarcadero, Knob Hill, China Town...hope you get a chance to hop on a Cable Car and go for a ride! They've restored them, and they're in daily use - so cool and so much fun!

Everytime I've been there since I was a small boy, have really enjoyed the place.

San Francisco - truely a beautiful city, one of the most socially and culturally progressive places in the world.

It is, after all..."The City".

Yup, I've been there too James - love it. Also, the people are ~amazing~. One of the most socially and culturally progressive places in the world indeed. It's great - hope you really enjoy it and the wonderful people who make up it's citizens Jagged Angel.

If you have time -- 4 days in S.F.? -- drive down the coast to Monterrey and Carmel. Some of the most gorgeous coastline on the planet. In Monterrey, be sure to go the aquarium. In Carmel, just enjoy the art and the quaint shops. I'm from California and am now in Tampa, Florida, about 2 hours from Orlando, just a little too far for a meetup. Enjoy your trip!

Wish I could meet up with yo JaggedAngel. I grew up in the SF Bay Area, but live in Oregon now. Vallie is right....if you have time Montery and Carmel are the most beautiful areas...the water is so clear and the beach in Carmel is white as can be. Plus the shops are fun! SF is a great city with lots to do. Fisherman's Warf is always crowded, but fun. Enjoy yourself!

Thank you everyone for replying, we now have some extra things to do in San Fran! I've not been there before, and I'm really excited to be going. We have organised a night-tour of Alcatraz, and a day-trip to Yosemite. I'm also a bit of a hiker (did Mt Warning and the Warrumbungles recently) and was thinking of taking a day's hike up Mt Tam.

As for the Orlando leg, all we have organised so far is an after-hours visit to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, and a trip out to Kennedy Space Centre (I'm such a nerd!).
