I think I need a safe place to put my gun so that I don't have access to it. I'm not sure where I could put it though. I only have 2 other family members in the state: one is a drug dealer and the other has very severe mental health issues. No one know I have the gun except for my wife, and she is not comfortable handling weapons. Ideas?

Get a lock box and give your wife the key? That way she's not having to handle the weapon but your access to it is restricted.

What has happened that makes you think you need to have it out of your hands?

Several ideas, first, if you do not need immediate access to it for self defense, then put a trigger lock on it, and, as suggested put it in a lock box that your wife only has a key to.
2. You could always rent a safety deposit box at the bank, and put it there until you feel safe having it in the house again.

If you're having any suicidal ideations, you must get rid of it immediately until you are feeling more stable. Give it to a trusted friend or community member.

Put it in a locked box give the key to your wife and bury or hide the box.

Trigger lock and a push button combination safe as well as cable locks are what we use. The ammo is stored separately in a second location (all ours are stored unloaded) and I wouldn't have a clue which keys are for which locks, or even where the keys are, or what the combinations are either.

Thanks, all. I do have a trigger lock on it, but of course I have the key. We don't own a safe. I just need to make sure that I don't have access to this for a while. My thoughts are not healthy, and I'm not confident that I can be safe with it right now It's a 9mm pistol. I thought about giving it to my shrink, but I don't want her to call the cops or have me committed.
