Halloween Costumes

This is a great thread. It brought back a memory of a fun time in my life. It wasn't Halloween, but is was a barn party.

A bit of background first. I have a really good friend that has the same kinda humor I do. OH the practical jokes we would pull on people and the crazy things we would do to get people to laugh and have fun. So this barn party was for our worship pastor and his wife. A lot of people from the church had put a lot of sweat and time into helping them build this barn, so they wanted to throw a party to thank everyone. They told everyone it was a western ho down so dress up western. They had a band coming to play and the whole works. So my friend and I decided we would "dress up western" and have a little fun with the whole thing. We got some of the band members in on our plan as well. So the night of the party the two of us get together and get dressed up then arrive to the party fashionably late. The band was playing and people were having a good time and in we walk. We put on a show let me tell you. My friend was the spitt"n image of Loretta Lynn and me....well I was the spitt'n image of Dolly Parton. Yes...I am tell'n you now, I can fill the....well....ummm..."shoes" of dolly quite well. To the shock, amazement, and pleasure of all, we headed right up to the stage and gave them all a little Loretta and Dolly concert. It took them to the end of our third song to finally figure out who their mystery guests were. Man that was fun!

Thanks for the memory! PH

This year I am very low energy. So I plan on wearing pink fleece pajama's with star's , purple slippers and carry my stuffed polar bear.
So I can go straight from the festivities to bed. Planning ahead this year. :)

Well since we are talking costumes... I once was out costume shopping for halloween and being a larger guy it's hard to find anything that fits me. but at the very bottom of just a pile of costumes I found a Monk costume. big brown cloak and it fit so tada I had a costume... or did I. I was looking at myself in the bathroom mirror in my costume thinking I needed something more when I heard a familiar chirping sound outside and it made me think. I rushed to the pantry and found those personal sized bags of chips i had just bought and a whole mess of safety pins and started pinning them on my cloak. And bingo i became the worlds largest "chip-monk"

Sounds like a great time PH. But the real question is can you sing like Dolly? ;-) Too bad I wasn't there wearing my cowboy toga!

popeye I'm cracking up picturing that. I've been invited to a costume party at my old bosses house and that sounds like a great costume! LOL! Either that or the earlier suggestion of a bag of jelly beans.

Jawn

LOL...well...no I don't sing like Dolly...not bad, but definately not like Dolly. Didn't matter...everyone was too busy looking at the....uhhh..."shoes", and other parts of the costume to really pay attention to the singing. Hee hee....had them goin for awhile.

Jawn...gotta see pictures. Hope your friend has them.

Fun stuff everyone! PH
