Has Anyone Taken Clonidine For PTSD Before?

he does take it for ADHD, not sure of the subtype or if his doctor ever told us one. He is taking 36 mg daily. He started lower and moved up to this. He seems to have settled at this dose.

I was on Clonidine but changed to Guanfacine which was to combat hypertension and ADHD. It didn't work for me. I have been using Ativan for 9 years (Prescribed) I tried to come off it three times under my Psych by using phenobarbitol and valium but failed. I am now resigned to Ativan for the very foreseeable future if not life. So every time I up it my tolerance just kicks in. So f*cked and stuck really...........I have started taking Propranolol. My current medication regime is numerous and formidable.

Anyone else on Clonidine?

My dr is going to start me on it later this week... assuming that my blood pressure isn't too low. My insomnia is horrible right now and could really use some sleep!

I was prescribed Lorazapan for anxiety when I was getting only two hours of sleep at night after flashback and emotional flashbacks with body memories. Although the L. numbed me a bit, it didn't help me sleep, so I was givevn Clonidine for the racing heart at night. It worked perfectly for that and the racing thoughts, so I could sleep and I slept 12 hrs! I just take 1/2 of one dose and that even works. My family Doc said they give it to vets with PTSD who can't sleep and have nightmares, high BP at night, and racing heart beats. It's a blood pressure (BP) medicine. They are finding all kinds of new applications with BP medicines, including induction of labor in pregnant women. Interesting. I think it's definitely worth a try since it's not habit forming. It allows me to not really use much of the Lorazapan, which is good, b/c I don't want to get hooked on anything heavy like that. I read that a combo of Clonidine, Trazadone, and Prozac or another SSRI is a PTSD coctail.

I take clonidine ,I was taking melatonin and no longer have to unless I really can not sleep after taking three clonidine..
It is great and I do not have to fear being addicted to it..Also I have ativan but hardly take that too..I was taking it every night before...I had not had more then 2-4 hours sleep in 20 years until the meds..next the doc wants to add remeren I think is the name and all I heard when he told me was my appetite going up and basically refused until he called in meds and I have now..I have had a ruff horrid weekend so I am trying it...
