Tears are there to heal the inside of us, our souls. It sounds like your session went well and had a calming effect in the end. It is a terrible thing you had to go through so your tears are justified. You must feel quite a release.

Welcome, Kat. It's good to hear that therapy is helping you. Hope you also find the support you need here.

Thank you. I'm feeling much better thanks to therapy and hard work on the abuse. Kind words always help.

Hi Kat - It's good to hear that things are moving forward for you.

Apologies for not picking up on this before....
I have diagnosed with PTSD and ASD
I assume by ASD, you mean Acute Stress Disorder? I'm curious if you were diagnosed as having PTSD and Acute Stress Disorder by the same doctor, at the same time? The only reason I ask this, is because being diagnosed with both is crap. Both fall under the umbrella of 'anxiety disorders'. Either you have one or the other - not both. PTSD is the worst end of the scale, when diagnosing anxiety disorders. Anyone who is diagnosed with PTSD already has symptoms, or potential for symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder (ASD), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Depression Disorders, Dissociative Disorders, Substance-Related Disorders etc, etc. To be honest the list goes on and on. PTSD already encompasses ASD, so multiple diagnoses are either a sign of a doctor who doesn't know what he's doing, or a doctor who is tied to a pharmaceutical company, and gets extra cash from multiple diagnosis's and the potential to earn more money my prescribing multiple medications for your 'multiple' diagnosis's. I'm not trying to frighten you. Perhaps you were diagnosed with ASD first, and then on further assessment diagnosed with PTSD - but you cannot have both.

The information I've given is just a summary, based on lots of reading - Anthony has a great article on this on PTSD Forum, [DLMURL="http://www.ptsdforum.org/c/threads/multiple-diagnosis-labeling-with-ptsd.13845/"]Multiple Diagnosis Labeling With Ptsd [/DLMURL]which I strongly suggest you read.

If you haven't yet done so, I seriously recommend that you read the link that I posted. PTSD encompasses any other anxiety disorder, due to PTSD being the worst end of the scale of anxiety disorders - you cannot have both.

Oh I see, my counselor made the diagnosis. I understand that PTSD covers all the anxiety disorders. Peace. :)
