My friend and I are both PTSD sufferers. I am a victim of a crime by a man who is on parole. He is convicted of killing several officials in a state the US and is now free on parole and has a job driving airplanes at a major international airport in the US. Initially I didn't have any opinion about finding out this information. My friend said, "isn't he muslim?" He is. My friend said, "An islamic murderer is driving around airplanes in the US? His parole officer really approved that?" He did. (The facts of the situation are all confirmed.) Would this mix of facts concern you? It really upset my friend. She was never a victim of any crimes by him. I was. I don't know how to make sense of her reaction or my own lack of a reaction.

Yup. It would concern me to the point where I would be reporting it to the FBI - or whoever deals with anti-terrorism these days. Then if that didn't work I'd be tipping off the media.

i think your over reacting on the muslim part....dont you think the authorities would already know this as he is on parole

I wouldnt report him because of religion (Islam is a huge huge religion and its unethical to be so prejudice) but rather because of his criminal record and his choice of a job.

The fact that he's a Muslim, no.

The fact that he's a convicted murderer, moreso, but if he's on parole, won't his employers already be aware if that?

It is my understanding his employers do know of his criminal background. I'm personally not concerned, but my friend is. We had very different reactions.

driving airplanes (as in towing) or flying the planes (as in being a pilot)? Two different things.
muslim=irrelevant (except racist)

muslim, irrelevant, so I'll ignore this bit.

convicted murderer flying? Uhm, alert the authorities? That can't be right, especially if he works on a commercial airline. Me bets he fudged his background stuff and got away with it. You could always start a public campaign. If its public knowledge, it isn't slander. Alert the major news networks? Oh, they'd have a field day with this one!

The airport does have a rule they don't hire anyone with felony convictions. It's on their website.

He confessed to his crimes and was released on a technical error after considerable time prison.

I'm sort of baffled. If an airport doesn't screen out the murderers - what is the point of screening anyone?

He is not flying the planes. Only drives them to/from the gate and the hangar and etc.

My friend is a bit racist about his religion. I agree.

But the prior criminal history? If he is getting through the screening, what is the point of screening anyone.

I don't know what authorities I would alert. I'm losing my shit.

They do background checks for your airside pass, I'd be very surprised if he was allowed to taxi planes. Even if he's just a mechanic.
His religion has nothing to do with it, it's being on parole. I've never heard of such a thing!!!
