To me, war is the most damaging thing a Human being can go through

Which is exactly why I am here and why most of the guys I know at the combat PTSD forum are there. You hit the nail on the head on that one sea. I have had people tell me when they found out i went in the military that I must have gone because I liked to A) Blow S**T up, B) Kill other people or C) for the college money. None of that is true. I went in the military four days after high school graduation because I had no place else to go and i figured it was a better career alternative than going out on the street and becoming a crack ho'. So, I went in also because i felt I wanted to do something postive with my life which is why i chose to become a Feild medical specialist (to begin with....then I went to school at night and basically whenever else I could, earned a masters degree and became a physcians assisstant and then went to Warrant Officers school...did not go to OCS because i wanted to have more contact with average everyday soldiers and being a warrant officer was the way to keep in touch with where I came from)

Anyway, war is not the worst thing that can happen when you look at people who get raped, children who get abused in every way imaginable etc...but yes, it is one of the worst things a person can go through. I would gladly have gone through my whole military career with out having gone to war had it been up to me. But 9-11 happened and that changed the whole trajectory of my military career. I only hope that one day, and I doubt it will be with this war, but I hope that one day all governments wake up and realize that war is not only the worst thing a human can go through but it is the worst thing the world can go through itself. the sooner our esteemed leaders realize that the better off we will all be. When all these educated and leadership types of people can sit down and resolve their issues in a humane, not to mention caring ADULT, manner than I willl regain a little hope in the world. Until that happens though, all my hope and faith in humanity is shot.

My opinion , I am completely unbothered about this persons death, if anything I am amused regarding the manor of his death.

If you saw the amount of medicines that the guy was taking then you have to consider whether he was ill and hoping to give himself up to receive free care and attention. Plus of course the publicity that his trial would have given him enabling him to convert others!

What really makes me smile is the thought that his last thought was probably "Oh shit, I didn't think they'd do that".

Heather I see that you regret starting this thread and understand why, but you have to realise that even if you wrote about a dog who had savaged a child then being put down, there would still be those who would defend the dogs actions claiming there are no bad dogs just bad owners.

For me this is just one mad dog being put down, but it doesn't change a lot in the scheme of things.

Precisely... people who begin threads here should stop taking responsibility or feelings of guilt for what others post onto them... what others do is not for you to own or feel bad about, as you have no control over what another does and they are responsible for their actions, nobody else.

well heather, I take full responsibility for whatever I have written. If you feel bad about tthis thread then do not. We all write what we write and anyone who would try to make you feel bad for having started such a thread is obviously just looking to blame someone else for the feelings that such a topic may have brought up for themselves. Everybody needs to take responsibility for their own feelings and it has nothing to do with you at all Heather. I think it is a good thread and I think it has given many people the opportunity to stop and deal with those feelings that maybe this thread might have provoked within them.

So good on ya' as far as I am concerened. I know it gave me a lot to think about and hs given me ideas as far as how to deal with my own feelings a little bit diffferently..

He killed a lot of Muslims as well and people don't seem to acknowledge that or understand how scary he was for a lot of Muslims.

He was a bit of a non entity in even the small percentage of radical, crazy Muslims (just like the percentage of radical, crazy Christians) because he had offered to get rid of some oppressive leaders and didn't. Any way he will now have traction in death that he didn't do in life.

You have to wonder at who is advising Barrack Obama sometimes.

I personally don't believe that would matter, as the US President, regardless who it is at the present time, is and will continue to be pushed into a corner by the world for this war... so their choices are limited in the larger scope to the world I believe. Bush started this, but it was his predecessors again who really started it, by continually entering Afghanistan and other countries, running black ops and killing their people. That was made very clear by Bin Laden right from the start... Obama is just the puppet of current day who holds the bullseye on his back. If this is still going when the US President changes, Obama will be forgotten about, just like Bush already has... and that person will be taking the fire for something they did not start.

The US President is screwed regardless who it is... the war is running... and until they end it, none of this controversy will end I believe. The longer the US remain in Afghanistan, the more determined radicals are to hurt the US population, because that is what's occurring in that country, innocent civilians are being killed in the thousands. I don't believe you can argue with a country who's root beliefs work around the payback system. Its just like PNG... same system... you hurt x, x's family hurt you / your family. You kill x, then x's family have a right to kill you or one of your family if you run and hide. Eye for an eye... you can't get that out of the culture, which America has learnt I believe by now after all the failed attempts at pushing democracy to said countries via force. Every attempt has failed to date.

The U.S. blew up the trade center ? Do you also believe we did not land a man on the moon or the holicost did not happen. Knowlege of history, geography, politics and war and knowlege of the enemy explain why OBL wasn't caught or killed in a week. God bless the special forces that wacked him. God bless the "sheep dogs" on the airliner that was headed for DC....but didn't get there because common citizens decided to become "sheep dogs"...I could explain the "sheep dog" mentality, but few would understand it here. God bless all the warriors wether or not the war is really "constitutional".

I know he killed way more Muslims than he did Americans. I saw some of the aftereffects of Al-Quaeda in Iraq's (who took their orders from Bin Laden for the most part) suicide bombings in marketplaces and around pilgrmiage sites and around mosques in general and I know he killed alot of Muslims. It is not something that the average servicememeber will ever have far from their mind, believe me.
.

I don't think anybody believes, or has been told that because Bin Laden is dead this is all over. Of course it's not. It's something, though, plus watching the observances from Ground Zero the victims families were inclined to be satisfied with 'something'. 3,000 dead for one man seems a little cold blooded and obviously wildly simplistic given the entire terroristic set-up but I'll take it, personally.

He was a very, very bad guy. This made a dent of whatever size. Some people will be able to not be dead in the future because he is now, and I'll take that, too.
