New Here
I am new here and am hoping to find help with my ptsd symptoms and also with the ridiculous racing thoughts that are present every waking moment except for the rare times I am able to distract myself with something that actually interests me (another rarity )

Hi patrish

Welcome to the forum

You have found a great place for help with your ptsd, loads of information, help, advice and as much support as you need.

Take some time to have a look round the different sections, where you will find a lot of useful information. Ideas to help your racing thoughts will be amongst it all, try using the search button on the menu bar at the top. You may find some members who have different ways of coping with this problem.

Good luck and take care.

I too well understand the problems of racing thoughts and lack of interest in "distracting" things. I have turned to this forum for relief and have managed to find some among the posts and in the chat room. Welcome to the forum and may you find peace here.

Patrish,

Welcome to the forum. I understand about the racing thoughts! You've found a great place with a lot of excellent information and wonderful people.

Hi Patrish

Welcome to the race track! Many of us are experience or did experience racing thoughts due to PTSD or or Complex-PTSD (Disorder of Extreme Stress).

I've have racing thoughts for the first 30 years of my lfie and they started to slow down using Cognitive Vased Therapy techniques. The goal is to lose the race of course. And today I am happy to say I'm living in the slow lane 99% of the time.

So slowing thoughts down can be done with time and effort.

Hey Patrish and welcome...

My mind races almost constantly and usually the thoughts are things I don't have an answer for. I usually just put them back into their box until the surface again looking for an answer.

Part of PTSD, as I understand it, involves that nasty racing mind symptom. We are always prepared for....whatever! At this point in my healing, I'm just grateful to have any brain cell that is in working order:rolleyes:!!

Just allow yourself to open up on this forum and time and deep thinking will be satisfied...it helps my OCD tremendously!!

See you around... :hello:

Oops - I did a few typos in my post. One was that I did "Cognitive Vased Therapy. Sounds like I did "pot" therapy. I didn't. Just want to clarify that...lol

I'm new also and understand the racing thoughts and how difficult it is to turn them off.
