My avatar is a mental projection of my process. Somewhere inside is a lovely vision of a woman, and my bird persona (which has empowered me so many years) is fading away. I am reminded every time I see it. I have posted a photo here and there, but it is not something I like to see every day or inflict on others. :O_o:

Sometimes things are not as they seem, Shiela. I just made it thru 40th anniversary of my beloved's death.

Some of us are more attractive than others. I have been described as "plain", "real", "handsome", or "beautiful". Go figure. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. And age is a poor measurement of wisdom or experience, too. ;)

I feel that I can understand the desire to communicate with those in similar circumstances, similar ages. I do know for a fact that any one of us can help, and be helped, by any other member here. That potential is there regardless of our "label" here, age, sex, or any other grouping. I had a very narrow search expectation when I first came here. Not saying you are doing anything wrong, by the way. Like I said, I do get it.

Back when chat was real active, I started talking with another supporter and we communicated on Yahoo Messenger for a while before she left the forum. I was amazed that we had similar reactions to our circumstances and that we used similar things to help our reactions and to calm ourselves in our responses. MORE amazed when I realized later that 30+ years apart in age.

PTSD is the great equalizer. That can be bad but sometimes it can be good.

Biologically, physically, whatever... I am 20 years old. Mentally I feel like I'm swinging back and forth between a lifetime. There are some moments I act five, others where I act my age, some where I feel like I'm in my 30s, and others where I just feel old beyond measure.

Relate Squirrel Girl. At 15 my mom's therapist told her (after a one on one session) that I was 15 going on 35. I feel at various times like I have a Peter Pan complex, or am ancient, then I look in the mirror and am surprised to see a 53 year old staring back at me.

This year I am celebrating the 14th anniversary of my 29th birthday :p

I will be the big 50 in November. Silver wedding anniversary in August and I have 2 grown up lads aged 20 and 22.

I don't mind anyone knowing my age. I feel really young and have a young outlook but my body just won't recognise it!!

The years have just flown and it is hard to accept that I'm not 20 any more but I still have lots of fun and don't intend to turn 'old' any time soon!

I'm 25, but I've always been more comfortable socializing with people older than me. I only had a small group of close friends all through my childhood and teenage years - though I hung out with friends of friends - and it's only in the past couple of years that I've started feeling like people my own age aren't that bad anymore. I think it's because I've always been so much older in spirit, and my peers are finally starting to catch up.
