I'm not sure this is the right forum but hope it is.
I have a 19 year old son who appears to have severe social anxiety and depression as well. He is not diagnosed with PTSD (I am) and I don't believe that's what he has.
He tried college this year but got to a point where he couldn't even leave his dorm room to eat or for class. He would have panic attacks. He dropped out and is now back home. He has huge anxiety about leaving the house and has not been able to talk enough to even ask for a job application let alone get a job. I see it getting worse rather than better the longer he sits at home.
Here is my dilemma. He badly wants therapy but because of his age the places I've called won't let me set up the appointment. I understand the reasons for their policies but my son's anxiety is so bad he can't even talk to me on the phone. He can only text. He does talk to family members at home.
Anybody ever deal with this or have any suggestions?
