After a few weeks of a few nights each, of nightmares and flashbacks, hubby has agreed it would be a good idea to go back for a short course of therapy, which will include EMDR.

He did have a few sessions of this in his original therapy sessions, and did find that the nightmares and flashbacks did reduce to almost not happening at all.

They are now increasing again, and also a lot more intense, where he cannot either wake up from them, or get into his safe place to reduce the impact they have on him when he does wake up.

He say's that he feels once he gets these back down to a minimum, he will be able to move forward again.

Have to do the usual now and "Wait and see"

I just read this and realize this post is a bit dated... but how are things now?? I've had some exposure to nightmare issues and I'm wondering how the EMDR worked. I've heard a lot about it, but not from anyone that has tried it. Did he go back?? Did he try the EDMR?? Has it helped the BOTH of you?

Hi reverly

We are still waiting for the call back. But as this is the UK, it could be a few weeks yet.

The first few sessions of EMDR did make a big difference, eliminating the day time flashbacks completely, its the nighttime ones that have returned, though not to the extent of how they were.

I will let you know what happens as and when it does.
