Any suggestions? Struggling hard to manage going back to employment without returning to maladaptive behaviours.

As weird as it might sound, I actually enjoy the sensations that go with that.

There is the possibility of learning to see the chaos as "fun". (We're all different, I get that that might be hard.)
I am getting to the point of enjoying this - and seeing where it goes - and I am beginning to trust myself and the process a bit more as well. I am not as nervous as I was.
 
I was a totally awesome teacher today! I really had a great day! I really went well. When I realised I was ruminating I disrupted my self and thought no one cares just do your best. It was a great day! I did really, really, really well. I managed a whole range of stuff from totally crazy shit to completely amazing kid questions!

Now, without taking anything away from the great work you did, can you block out a little time this evening/night for just relaxing and unwinding?

Even if you don't feel like you need it today, it's still very important to allow yourself that time, because otherwise 2/3/4 days down the track, it will catch up with you again.

So we can work on breaking the cycle of great teaching days -> burn out :hug:

There are many ways you can work in the teaching profession.

The area that you are working in burns out many, many people.

Do you think it might be best to find a teaching job that isn’t this taxing?

I don’t know how one learns to not become hyper vigilant or enter fight/flight in the first place. I think it’s a matter of putting out fires as I’m not so sure you can override the brain function that ensures we survive.
 
I did take my mind off things. So that was good. Not spinning out in my head is a really good idea. That really drains me.

I also got another job offer last night so I have three potential contracts for next semester! Exciting stuff.
 
Actually @LuckiLee! That is a great idea to a park. Going to a coffee shop, having a peppermint and reading a news paper really would work for me.

Stopping off before I come home and reading a newspaper could really work for me. That does give me a brain break.
