I've set up a white noise speaker to help me sleep at night. So far it's working. It's interesting how most of the sounds that I can choose from give me anxiety, such as thunderstorms, rain on a car roof, birds chirping in the forest. But the airplane engine sound is calming, even though I'm scared of flying on planes. Just thought that was interesting.
Anyway... as I was trying to fall asleep last night, a new thing happened to me. I assume I was in my hypnagogic state and was beginning to hallucinate or something. I started hearing a bunch of sounds from my work that stress me out a bit - the clanging of the portafilters on the machine, banging the coffee into the bin, syrups pumping. Etc. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my job and it's fun. Yesterday was just a little stressful of a day because of how busy it got when I was working alone.
Have any of you heard 'stress sounds' before falling asleep? It's the weirdest thing. Feels real.
