It seems we are all being treated like mushrooms right now. "kept In The Dark And Fed On Crap"

OK so we know what is happening and which company is buying most of the shops including mine, also it was hinted at and strongly suggested that the end of this month, first of next would be transfer of business time. Yea right, after today's meeting where we were told all answers would be issued, guess what, NO MORE NEWS AVAILABLE.

So how come after today there could be very few deliveries of the vital stores we need to keep trading. This is starting to look as if they are telling us a few lies to keep us quiet, well voices are now starting to be raised.

Oh dear Amethist. Nothing worse than mushroom syndrome along with what you are being told not matching what you are seeing. Hang in there.
 
So The Waiting Is Over

I did post this last week just before the "Shit Happens Episode".

As from tomorrow we will be working for the new company, we finally found out on Wednesday after being told on Tuesday no news to report. But we have not actually formally met our new employers, yet they are in all the shops today re-merchandising everything and putting up there own posters and labels.

Maybe we can allow for that as it seems it was all a last minute rush in signing the final paper work.

As for the old company, not a thank you or kiss my, well I wont say it but I am sure you know what I was going to put.

So tomorrow we will be wearing mustard coloured polo shirts instead of black and brown aprons not black. But the craziest thing of all is, we do not have to wear hats or hair nets, just tie it back if it is long. We are working with and preparing food, I have never known this before, anywhere I have worked before where food is prepared I have always had to have my hair covered.

Now only time will tell, if it works out as well as we hope it will.

This May Turn Into A Vent !!!

Today was the first day with the new company, it was a complete nightmare for all of us. Talk about disorganised chaos, they could not have started out any worse if they had tried. They should have not opened today but had us there for training, not just dropped us in at the deep end as bad as they did. It was totally unorganised as they expected us to work as normal as we had done with the old company. How the hell were we supposed to do that when

1, We did not know the products.
2, The till system was completely different and products missing off it, even for the people who came in to "Show us the way".
3, They would not take notice of us when we tried to explain that we needed to put Bacon and Sausage in first for the breakfast rush.
4, When we tried to tell them that we were mainly a sandwich shop and not a bread shop, they told us they could change that, Yea right OK, but never
worked in the past.
5, They sent us way too many products and were annoyed at the waste, we did tell them but what do we know ?

Not only that, the safe was not locked after someone from the new company had been into it on Sunday. Plus the money left in the safe was short, different from the amount that had been left in it over the weekend. This had been triple checked before we left on Friday, as we were not sure who would be in the shop over the weekend. So now there is all hell let loose about this, with them trying to say we left it with the wrong amount in it.

They insisted that cashing up early would be fine, er no if you do that the tills shut down and you have to re-open them as if it is a new day. (Ancient system that has needed updating for a long time).

So by the time 2 of us left we were half an hour late, and out poor manager did not get out while an hour after she should have. The lady who finishes at 3pm said she may leave at the end of the week if it carries on like this.

We all understand that a new company has different ways, different everything. But we are not mind readers, we do not do miracles, and they cannot expect perfection on the first day.

I was thinking of you today and wondering how it went. Must admit, this sounds worse than I expected. I hope you are able to take a deep breath and hang in there.

The Who played at half time of the Super Bowl and which song is it? Maybe "Who are you?" LOL but the verse was "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss"

Sorry to hear you had such a rotten and stressful day. Fingers crossed that after 'disaster Monday' the company reassess, take stock and have more a realistic ideal for today. It sounds like they need to listen to their staff more. I hope things improve for you, as the week goes on.

I really think Nicolette has a point. MY "glass" metaphor is the half full vs the half empty aspect. If you can somehow see that ANYTHING is an improvement then your glass is half full. Well a little full, LOL! OK, maybe a tiny full, LOL.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement.

Today was better then yesterday, as they are now beginning to listen to some of what we tried to tell them yesterday, note I said some LOL.

We did manage to run things more our way, with them understanding why it is easier than how they tried to do things yesterday. It will improve as time goes on and at least we are still employed.

The crazy thing about today was !!

Our tills, their system. I was teaching them how to work their system, talk about the little guys teaching the big guys how to do their job.

I suppose all the time I have spent over the years picking up technical know how has paid off. :rofl:
