Bear in mind that the proposed diagnosis of developmental trauma would encompass the diagnoses of ADD and ADHD - so many people with early trauma show up with these characteristics.

@Anarchy , what does this mean? Same characteristics with different etiology? Or trauma changes the brain? Or.. ? Thank you.

@Junebug ... Similar to how some people think every stubbed toe = PTSD? Some people think distracted & hypofocus = ADHD. It's nonsense.

Similarly, despite countless studies proving time and again that ADHD in inherent, not acquired, the same baloney about bad parenting causing ADHD still persists.

Of course, bad parenting exacerbates most things, including just about every disorder on the planet. Whether it's an abusive/neglectful asshole f*cking with an ADHD child, a Deaf child, an Autistic child, a Diabetic child... Bad parenting sucks. Hard. But removing the bad parenting doesn't remove the ADHD, Deafness, Autism, or Diabetes.

Thank you Dear @FridayJones , there is something I have to do but I'm glad I came back. Yes, totally agree. (Not to mention I know little of developmental trauma, proper.) I think too what makes the most sense to me is also the severity of difficulty & ways it's resulted in harm to one's life. (Well unmanaged especially, whether it be ptsd, adhd, diabetes etc etc).

Also, I think eg like ptsd etc, when (at least for me) I think of it as being internal, that makes me feel it is my 'fault', though that is not the exact word- 'inherent' isn't either, but do you know what I mean? (Words also escape me atm. )

ETA, what I meant is for @TyraaryT , as Cashew & @FridayJones & others have said, you have done very well & are special & being different or learning differently is a very different view than thinking of yourself as damaged. What has helped you reach where you are today will be at least part of what will help you in the future.

It advances (with good evidence) the idea that state sector schooling, certainly in Britain and the united state, has its origins in the free schools run by the Brahmin caste in India, to keep the young minds of the lower castes occupied, with meaningless busywork, ignorant, and grateful to the Brahmin caste for being there to rule over them wisely.

From a behaviourist point of view, If you want to learn to keep to lists and schedules for completing work. It would probably require some journaling, in order to identify the thoughts, feelings/emotion and behaviours that lead to skipping the to-do list, and once they are identified, figuring out ways to break the chain of events...

along with long practice at trying to stick to the list, until you get good at doing it.

I've never had the staying power to keep doing either. It all seemed very dull and dutiful.
