I Can't Get My Period. Anyone Else?

So, I recently went to the doctor after over 2 months without my period. She asked me if I had any stress. I said a little and took a hormone shot. It's supposed to come back within a couple of weeks. She gave me an ultrasound and everything else looked fine.
My life is not stressful. My symptoms are not out of control. Can PTSD give you enough daily, internal stress to stop your period without you noticing additional stress?
I guess I must stress myself out inside, due to this disorder, and maybe I just don't know myself that well?
Or could it be something else. I don't know. Do you ladies still get your periods, and always get them regularly? Maybe the women of this forum can find some commonality...

It could mean many other things: nutrition and weight come to mind. If either of those are low, amenorrhea is more common. Others are illness, environmental factors, and stress.

Mine are regular but very far apart. About a 36 day cycle.

I've lost mine entirely for months on a regular basis, and once for a few years. Sometimes related anxiety-stress related, everything else normal. Sometimes other physical stress (being underweight, malnutrition).

I take a seasonal birth control to get mine. I would go months without getting it and even when i wasn't having sex I would panic thinking I was pregnant. I agree with others, it could be stress, it could be weight, etc

Mine's been all over the place for the last year, skipping some entirely and others delayed by weeks. I've also been less stressed overall. There's seemingly no cause and my doctor doesn't think it's anything to worry about, though he blows a lot of things off. It can be related to poor thyroid function, though if you live with or are close to another female, it's also not uncommon for your cycles to be similar - I live with my mum, who's pre-menopausal, so that could be a factor.

Mine was always super-regular but I had other problems of imbalance (likely endometriosis but I haven't gone as far as laparoscopy yet, but that would be next because all of the hormone pills were horrible for my body...and f#cked up my mood badly). It would be ideal to find the underlying cause vs treat with fake hormones, in my opinion (I was just in so much pain and like bleeding to death). Stress can relate to hormone imbalance. Something like estrogen is produced by cortisol, or in connection with (I'm not good on my endocrinology, but there's a connection here and my therapist wonders if the deeper imbalance isn't part of my long-haul of trauma stress in my body). I exercise daily and am sticking to whole foods, even more fruits and vegetables lately...anything that can support my body in getting on track. I don't know what would cause missed periods if your weight and stress hasn't changed (or you aren't up at period-skipping age).

Anyway, you probably won't find commonality here since it's a very individual thing. Your stress might be part of it and might not be. If things don't smooth over, go to ob/gyn for better check but also read up on hormones and natural ways to support balance. Look for any possible changes in your diet and environment too. Hormone medications can be harsh, but I'm over-sensitive to everything.

I've always been irregular, but I've recently been okay with getting it consistently. I notice that my symptoms run RAMPANT when I dont get it for long enough. I guess its the lack of feel-good hormones us ladies get during that time. Maybe if you haven't already, be honest and explain that you have it? Oh, and take vitamins like Magnesium and Vitamin C, I heard that it may sort or ease it on. Pennyroyal tea could also bring on menstruation, look it up.
