I Hate The Flu

I heard that mild exercise doesn't actually lengthen the time the cold lasts... I have a hard time believing that when I get one though.

Some education about the influenza virus and vaccine:
The "flu" mutates constantly. That is why you can never become immune to it.
The flu vaccine is developed yearly based on how it is percieved to have mutated.
A dead flu virus is injected into our bodies that will activate our immune system to seek and destroy it so that when it is triggered by the live virus we aren't sick as long or we don't get sick at all. Sometimes the vaccine triggers a strong immune response and so we may feel very sick for a couple of days after getting it. The vaccine is not meant to "give" us the flu but to prevent us from becoming very sick from the actual virus.
I work in a level I trauma center and we are all required to get the flu vaccine yearly. It helps to prevent us from infecting our patients and from us having to be out sick from the illness.
Hope this sheds some light on the use of flu vaccines.
Best to everyone this flu season.
Fluids are pushed to prevent dehydration due to fever, vitamin C is recommended to boost the immune system, and rest is recommended to help the immune system do it's job. Mild exercise is ok, but strenuous exercise causes inflammation that, while sick, just makes matters worse.

I once ate garlic with roast potatoes every night for about 6 months...it was all I felt like eating at the time, so I went with it (there was meat and other foods each day, but garlic and potatoes had to be there in some form. I didn't get sick for about 3 years after that. :D I felt so clever...surrounded by people sick everywhere I went and I was just cruising along. Garlic works.

This year I forgot to eat a lot of garlic though, and just got over the flu myself. It really lingers, which is annoying.

Don't like the flu? Try fibromyalgia on for a while. Flu like symptoms every day forever. Some days not so bad, some days... Please kill me. Not looking for sympathy, just saying it could be worse.

I am a strong believer in garlic and most food enhancing herbs like oregano, rosemary, horseradish, etc. Most kitchen herbs that have passed down the generations are not only for flavor, they also help preserve food by killing E. Coli and such. They also have medicinal properties like lowering cholesterol, blood pressure, boosting the immune system, etc. (this opinion has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration). If your interested spend some time on Google or your favorite search engine and look it up. Herbs are a hobby of mine and I use them extensively, probably excessively. My very mild as far as red pepper chili hot, causes asthma attacks in people who don't have asthma. lol

I was going to exercise today... but one more day, then I'm getting back full into it. Nose is down to just being blocked in the morning, so I'm sticking one more day out just to make sure I'm good... then back to exercise.
