I cringe at saying this to you, but be prepared that the first civilian psychiatrist you see may not be very good either. After years of dealing with psychs I have come to the conclusion that they are more screwed up than their patients. So, go to your appointment with no expectations if you can. You may have a great experience or a horrible one or something in between. I don't mean to sound so negative, but just understand that there are a lot of nuts out there. :confused: You may have to visit several before you find one that is right for you.
I finally got a good psychiatrist, and now he has up and vanished on me. He left the practice where he was and was taking a short time off before starting at a new place, and it has never happened. He is just gone and his voice mail is full so I can't even leave him a message.
