New Here
I joined yesterday and I can't pull myself away from here. I haven't eaten because that will take too much time and had to hurry to take a shower because I haven't showered in over a week but I had to get out as fast as I can to read other people's posts and threads. The time flies so fast which is awesome because them I'm closer to bedtime. How to not be addicted or obsessed with this website?

Welcome to the site, take your time there is no rush, we will all be here for you when you need us.

I'm fairly new here myself and have found this site to be a great help to me, I feel at home in here, as folk actually understand what your going through.

So relax, chill out, go out and do your normal every day stuff, we will all be here when you get back, I'm looking forward to reading your future posts.

Hi again:) You are really nice! Thank you for replying!!! Well, I don't have a job (on SSD) or any friends except some in different cities which I like so I don't have to make excuses why I don't want to go out. I don't enjoy going outside or anything actually. I have my family that try to get me out but they know how hard it is for me so I get invited to little get togethers but they understand if I don't go. I honestly don't see why it even matters if I'm present or not. Like the holidays and birthday parties. I just don't see what the big deal is.

When I first joined this site, I was hooked. It stayed on my phone! But it helped me. It helped to meet other people in my situation. I don't get on here as much. But this site was a life saver for me!

That's exactly how I felt. It was so great to find a site where people understood what I am going through. There is so much good advice on here. And sooo many amazing people. I'm glad you found this site! And don't feel bad for being on here a lot. It's helping you :)

I think it's pretty normal when one finds something new that resonates with them to go through a bit of frenzy. It happens with new hobbies people really like, sometimes even with new foods or new discoveries in clothing, self expression, etc. In the case of something like this site you're also finding human connections and validation that you aren't alone in all of this when you may have been feeling very alone.

Try to keep it under control and take care of yourself, but as long as it levels out after a few days or a week or two I wouldn't worry too much. It's a lot to take in and it's a big relief, plus it's stimulating your brain and giving you new perspectives/angles on how to think about your inner reality. It can also be hard to look away from something you just found that fits in case it all disappears but as @Gadgie said, we aren't going anywhere.

Glad you found us.

Welcome.

I wouldn't label 'addiction' something that's simply an urge to read up more / participate / whatever it is, and I wouldn't pathologize your wanting to get oriented now you discovered a valuable resource.

How to pull away: By just doing it :D Set a limit and stick to it. Easier said than done if you're compulsive about something.
