New Here
whats up guys my name is jeff. i served over in iraq through 2005 & 2006.
i came home and in 6 months having been out couldnt find work so all the saved money i had was gone which started a downhill path the led me to drinkin heavily basically once i hit this spiral i was wrapped up in drinking all day every day until i passed out because i felt i had no future .it got to where my wife had toput a halt in the drinking because my only stopping mechanism was to just pass out whenever whereever. i backed off on the drinking trying to find work but upto this point the only work i could find was labor work i took it because we would have had no where to live. short;y after that i was introduced to smoking pot as a solution and it worked quite well at least if you didnt have to work . and i floated from construction job to retail cell phone sales and rock bottomed at dillards where i just gave up i would clock in and turn around to leave because i couldnt stand being in there i would come back to clock out and finish the day. that went on for a while until i got into a heated conversation with my boss and i told her ive done more for you and your business than anyone else here and i was finished i just couldnt deal with the stress of that kind of work /ambien has me a bit loopy\ more will come but im still having constant trouble with everyday life and the spits and arguments between my wife and i. i just needed to get onto a board with guys like you who have been there and lived/ing it now just to kno from the booze i went to pot which helped me more than anything else including the meds they give me. no all i do is isolate in my house wanting to go out but knowing as soon as i get there ill be in major trouble plus i now have the worst road rage and it scares my family mostly uncontrollable

Sounds like you been inside my memories mate. Welcome to the forum. Its a common story unfortunately, the only difference between us is our nightmares.

Have a read through the different threads and have a read through the articles section, there is some awesome info in there and if you can talk your wife into it, get her to have a read through some of the articles too.

There is another forum, www.ptsdforum.org. There is a support section on there where partners/supporters go to vent their probs too.

So welcome again mate and if you have any questions, just ask.

Jimmy

Hello Jeff and welcome. Like Jimmy said, you seem to have completed most of the preliminary steps and subject areas!
The good news is you can get a handle on it. It can get better (and you'd be surprised how quickly).
Main thing is to get to understand what's going on. Yep, read the articles, use the search to tap in subjects that bug you, such as 'isolation', and see how others view it (and deal with it). And do ask.

Ahh yes. The road rage. I have not driven in 11 years. It is a bit more sane without it. Welcome. Hope you find some good here. I'm sure you will.

Wagon.

Welcome on board mate. Have a read of the threads and where your symptoms are highlighted (we all have different ones) ask them for assistant, were all after the same goal it just takes longer to get there sometimes. I have been struggling of late but got some good advice off my new brothers and it helped, not cured it. As for the road rage i partial cured mine cos i bought a sports car, dont figure but it works for me cos i dont have to sit behind Miss Diasy's driver no more

Welcome to the fold seifer mucker.

As the guys have said you ain`t alone in this.

I nearly went down for a road rage incident where I nearly killed 3 innocent people, all because the prick driver was (in my opinion) tailgating. I let the misses drive most days now, unless I am haveing a happy dance day.

You found a good site here, take a pew, rest awhile, and read at you pace.

Welcome, Jeff. You'll find answers here. As our numbers increase, so does our knowledge base. I learn something new every time I log in here. Alcohol does work but it wrecks the body. Don't know about the other except what Jimmy says.

Take Care,

Sarg

Hey Jeff

Welcome and glad you found your way here. Lots of good people and info as well.

Don't try to fix everything at once, just take it one step at a time. Be good to yourself, you deserve it. Glad you made it back from Iraq.

The good news is that it can get better for you. Just keep puttin' one boot in front of the other......you'll get there. We'll help ya.
