After major fb in which I was yet again ordered out of the house for being a terorist, had to storm back in and remove the saw he was trying to take his trigger hand off with, not too much damage done

Sorry to hear this wife of, I hope you yourself are OK.

Looks like your going to have to learn the "Sargent Major's Bark", may be a good idea to practice just how they do it, using it form the next room when needed.

I am not joking with this, it could be the one thing that works in times like this.

Too far into it last night for the orders to work. Just thankful I'd had time to pull the blinds open before leaving the house or we wouldnt of got him in time. Worried about the 17yr old who witnessed it...

We have a safety plan that worked well last night,we'd locked ourselves outside at this point with all blinds open and once he becsme mobile we monitored him. Didn't want to be right up at the windows in case we spooked him so lost sight for three mins which must of been when he got the saw out...

We saw him getting the chopping board out and then looking down and shouting at something and then I twigged.Acted on pure instinct and stormed in,wrestled saw off him, tossed it outside and yelled son to call police and ambulance.

Then just hung onto his wrist for grim death shouting stand down orders till he was compliant.was a futher hour before he became fully aware and wanted to know how hed got hurt.....

I can't imagine what you are feeling, I can only say I've been on the other side and my husband been in your shoes.
We have plans in place as well. It is a difficult time but our household has gone through it.

You are in my thoughts,

((((((wife of and son)))))), sorry that you have such things to deal with. Yes it would be good to do and get debriefing for you and your son. You seemed to have handle the situation with brio, good preparation and instincts. Wish I could do more, can only walk with you through this, linking arms, pray for you and light a candle.

Wifeof - I'm so sorry to hear about your experience a couple nights ago! I can't imagine what you went through with that! You did the right thing by calling the ambulance. I hope your husband is getting the help he needs as well as you and your 17 year-old. I'm not sure how the veteran programs work in the UK but I hope he is in some pretty intense therapy!

You seem to be former military yourself by the words you use?

It just breaks my heart to see the aftermath of war play out in our homes on a daily basis. I commend you for your strength.

LoL only military training I had was as an air cadet and then 7 yrs service wife....he's talking to psychologist as I type.

I'm a bit of a mess tbh, petrified as he told me last night he'd still happily do it again.

He's at home and I've had about three hours sleep for each of the last two nights.

I'm due to start the counselling tomorrow but I think I'll have to cancel, can not trust him to be on his own right now.

He might not be able to fight for himself right now but I aint for quitting.

I love this man.

Thank you all for your kind words, I feel less alone for hearing them.
