Legal marijuana help ptsd?

Sadly I don’t live somewhere where we have legalized marijuana, however it’s made a huge impact on my symptoms- specifically nightmares and night terrors. I was taking klonopin before bed every night and got to the point where it wasn’t helpful at all. I have a difficult time with medication resistance in general, but nothing for sleep has ever helped. If I smoke I actually sleep (sometimes 5-6 hours as opposed to 3!) and I don’t feel trapped in my nightmares like I do with tranquilizers.

Honestly, a huge difference for me has been having supportive people around me who don’t see smoking as an issue. My therapist has actually encouraged it (responsibly) to help with sleep when we have been working through really difficult stuff. Since there is still so much stigma around marijuana it really helps to feel like I can be honest with others about it.

Good luck!

Has anyone seen help from it? Have you been able to stop taking all other meds?

For me, it has been a lifesaver. 18 months ago I was taking 2mg xanax bars up to 3x day, Adderall 2x day (amphetamine is named after it's own ring in hell), Ambien and percocet. Now I only smoke weed and have taken back command of the ship...so to speak. I have actually sought help and am receiving treatment. I started loving myself enough to shower everyday, dress and workout. Marijuana is without a doubt the best medicine I have used in my many decades of symptoms. It was recommend to me by my GP, Neurologist and Psychiatrist.

I use a high CBD throughout the day and a high THC for sleep..generally speaking. I don't much care about the name of the strain. I want weed as close to pure INDICA as possible....in both the high CBD and THC. That's it...nothing complicated. Sativas and hybrids are stimulating and that is unhelpful medically...so I buy INDICA only.

When I find all the currently available INDICA strains around me on Leafly I open all the medical properties in their own tabs. Then I pick the ones that are highly rated in the PAIN, STRESS, INSOMNIA categories and ditch the rest. This is how I select the proper Marijuana for my/our conditions...

Example of a very decent looking strain. Scroll down to Strain Attributes and click on the medical tab.

I have found medical marijuana very useful. The stress is constant and overwhelming it helps a lot with that and the insomnia as well. I also feel more in control. I make the choice on what, when and how. I don't have nasty side effects like I did with the pills they had me on.

No other meds for me besides marijuana. I was on benzoids for 10 years.

Good to see Cannabis has helped. I am a little iffy on signing up in my state, as the Medical Cannabis is higher in CBD than THC. For my PTSD, I need the THC with CBD to help with my symptoms and help me through my day, or help me go to sleep at night.

I used it for a very brief period when I was working off the Xanax and had major withdrawals. I had to sto...

They do have medical strains that have higher CBD than THC, and you can also try CBD oil. CBD alone doesn't do a thing for my severe and chronic PTSD, though. Good luck on your journey.
