My goal is to be off Xanax in two years. There is some research that shows a high correlation to dementia in later years if benzos are taken for over 15 years in the elderly population (long term use).
My goal is to train and work out daily until I get a natural release from that while tapering off my meds. I will eat according to a plan with a nutritionist, avoiding carbs and caffeine and alcohol, and junk food. Also, I will work less, and sleep and move about more, doing relaxation activities and meditation during the day. I may even opt for my dog to be a service animal/therapy animal. Whatever it takes.
While so much flashbacks and dreams of the long repressed traumas are constantly surfacing, I do not plan on worrying about medication. I just take it religiously and try not to up it. I'll take it as long as I must to get through the processing of traumas, but when the dust begins to settle on that, I have a plan to wean off with my doctor's help.
